Best MNF Player Picks: Week 2

Justin Bales breaks down his best Monday Night Football player picks below.

Bijan Robinson Over 64.5 Rushing Yards (1.77x)

Robinson is one of the most talented running backs in the NFL, and it looks like the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff is finally prepared to use him in a proper role. He posted 68 yards on 18 carries against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. Most importantly, he saw 85.7% of the running back carries.

Robinson gets an interesting matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles this week. They performed well against running backs in 2023, allowing only 78.8 yards per game on the ground. The Eagles allowed roughly 4.0 yards per carry last season.

Philadelphia struggled against the run in the first game of this season, though. Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson combined for 133 yards on only 20 carries. They also combined for 74 yards after contact and 72 breakaway yards.

Robinson is an outstanding option in terms of yards after contact, posting 55 in his first game of 2024. He didn’t record any breakaway yards, but he still beat the total they’re offering this week.

The expectation is that Robinson will continue to see 20-25 touches [including receptions] per game. We know he comes with tremendous speed, and he has the potential to record plenty of yardage on only one carry in this game.

It’s a bit too low of a total for someone with Robinson’s talent, assuming he continues to find similar volume as Week 1.

Where to Bet: Bijan Robinson over 64.5 rushing yards | 1.77x on Sleeper

Jalen Hurts Over 35.5 Rushing Yards

It’s fair to say that something looked wrong with Hurts against the Green Bay Packers. He still ended the game with 33 yards on 13 carries. He posted 23 yards after contact and 22 scrambling yards.

Hurts gets an elite matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. They allowed the second-most rushing yards (25.6) per game to opposing quarterbacks last season. This season, the Falcons were torched on the ground in their Week 1 game.

Justin Fields drew the start for the Pittsburgh Steelers, posting 57 yards on 14 carries. He recorded 43 yards after contact and 28 scrambling yards. This would’ve been one of his better games from 2023.

I’m less concerned with how Hurts looked last week and prefer his volume. He shouldn’t have any issues beating this number if he sees 10+ carries again against Atlanta. It’s also important to note that he only had 3 scrambles last week, meaning he saw 10 designed runs.

Where to Bet: Jalen Hurts over 35.5 rushing yards | PrizePicks
