There are a plethora of reasons to use Sleeper Fantasy’s “Picks” product, but two stand above the rest.

First, Sleeper Picks has variable payouts. Sleeper’s payout changes based on the plays you pair together. The operator doesn’t have the same static numbers as some other sites, which allows you to create plays based on your risk tolerance.

Second, Sleeper has alternate player projections. This creates an option more similar to a sportsbook, which allows you to make picks on different “milestones” for players rather than one specific number. For example, you can predict someone to score 20+, 25+, 30+, etc. points.

The variable projections allow you to get different payouts for these milestones. Sleeper Picks gives you the option to create specific plays you want rather than a somewhat limited number of projections being available.

The combination of variable payouts and alt picks lets the user create a wide range of plays as desired.

Sleeper Fantasy Picks Today – Thursday, May 22

Now that you have more information about Sleeper Picks, it’s time to see if we can find some value in the lobby.

Every day you’ll find a new set of our top plays across multiple sports.

Carlos Rodon More Than 6.5 Strikeouts

Rodon is throwing at an extremely high level for the New York Yankees this season. He enters this game with a 30.5% strikeout rate and a 10.9 K/9 through 59.2 innings. He also boasts 12.3% swinging-strike and 31.4% CSW rates this season.

The left-hander isn’t getting an elite number of chases, but he does rank in the 70th percentile in the MLB in chase rate. More importantly, he ranks in the 87th percentile in whiff rate. He owns elite 45.5% and 38.5% whiff rates on his slider and changeup.

New York’s ace gets a great matchup against the Texas Rangers today. They’re striking out at the fifth-highest rate (25.4%) in the MLB against left-handed pitching. The Rangers also rank 23rd in the league in team wOBA (.278) against lefties in 2025.

We’ve seen drastically worse arms beat this number against Texas in recent games. Ryan Yarbrough (8) and Framber Valdez (8) were the two most recent left-handed starters against the Rangers. We’ve also seen Tarik Skubal (12), JP Sears (7), Robbie Ray (8), and Justin Steele (8) dominate this team.

Rodon boasts incredible strikeout upside in any game. This is an ideal matchup for him, though. He can throw deep into the game, and he’s fairly consistently beaten this number when throwing 6+ innings.
