Where’s the top Underdog NBA value for today’s slate?
OG Anunoby Lower Than 18.5 Points
The Knicks have built a star-studded roster over the past few seasons, but don’t sleep on what Anunoby brings to the table. He’s an elite defender and a competent scorer, averaging 17.7 points per game so far this season.
However, Anunoby has seen a slight decrease in his scoring output of late. He’s averaged just 13.8 points per game over his past six outings, and he’s been below 18.5 points in five of them. Part of that is due to poor efficiency – he’s shot just 39.2% from the field and 26.5% from 3-point range – but his volume has been slightly down as well.
The Raptors represent a solid matchup for scoring, but Anunoby still has to share the ball with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges. Brunson and Towns both have usage rates of at least 28.4%, so they do the majority of the scoring. The Raptors have also been one of the worst teams in basketball this season, so there’s a bit of blowout concern as well.
The big x-factor here is Towns’ availability. He missed the team’s last game and is questionable for Monday, and if he’s inactive, I’m not interested in fading Anunoby. But as long as he’s back in the lineup, this number feels a bit too high.

Jakob Poeltl Higher Than 24.5 Points
Poeltl has been a frequent alt target for me this season, and he’s come through at a decent clip. He’s always been a strong per-minute producer, and he’s getting the opportunity to play more consistent minutes for the Raptors this season. He’s averaging 32.7 minutes per game, and he’s responded with a career-best 16.2 points per game.
Getting to 25+ points is a big ask, especially with the team getting a bit healthier of late, but he’s done it in three games so far this season. The Knicks are also not the same defensive team as usual under Tom Thibodeau, sliding to 18th in defensive efficiency this season. Karl-Anthony Towns can be exploited on the interior, so Poeltl has solid upside in this spot.
