Not exactly our finest performance with Tuesday’s Best Bets, as we went 1-for-4.

But you know what they say, “one step back and two steps forward.” OK, so maybe that’s not the correct order of things, but hopefully it applies to Wednesday’s Best Bets situation.

To that end, we are calling on an old friend to help us take those steps forward. You better believe the Detroit “Cover City” Pistons are back on the Best Bets’ board.

Throw in a pair of NBA props, and maybe we can take three steps forward with Wednesday’s Best Bets.

Let’s jump into it!

The bet: Pistons +8.5 (vs. Dallas)
The odds: -110

From: Matt Perrault via The Bostonian Vs. The Book Podcast

The Bostonian vs. The Book crew is backing a familiar team Wednesday, recommending the Detroit Pistons +8.5 against the Dallas Mavericks.

Podcast host Matt Perrault vocalized his fondness for the Pistons on the show, citing how Detroit has been on a heater against the spread: “[Detroit] is 8-2 ATS over the last 10. The Pistons have been damn hot!”

Dave Sharapan, co-host of the podcast, fully supported his partner’s decision to go back to the proverbial well.

“I like it,” Sharapan said. “We’re sticking with this Deeetroit Baaasketball!”

Even though the Pistons don’t have anything to play for at this point in the season — except a few more ping-pong balls the NBA Draft lottery — they’re still competing down the stretch. Detroit has won three in a row — matching the team’s longest winning streak of the season — and covered the spread in five straight.

Perrault and Sharapan believe the boys from Motor City will at least keep things close again tonight. If you want to ride with Detroit “Cover” City, you can find the Pistons +8.5 at BetMGM.

Perrault listed two other best bets he likes during Wednesday’s Bostonian vs. The Book podcast — an NBA total and an NHL total. You can listen to the replay on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.

NBA Prop: SF Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets)

The bet: Over 28.5 points (at New York)
The odds: -140
Where to bet: DraftKings Sportsbook
From: Jim Barnes via Wednesday NBA Props

Kyrie Irving poured in 42 points in the Nets’ 118-105 victory over Houston on Tuesday. On the second night of a back-to-back, it’s now Kevin Durant’s turn.

With Irving leading the way, Durant scored only 18 against the Rockets on Tuesday. But he scored 55 against Atlanta in the previous game and 53 the last time he played the Knicks.

With Brooklyn still looking to secure home-court advantage for next week’s play-in games, expect Durant — who has averaged 29.5 points in 22 career games against New York — to have a big night at Madison Square Garden.

NBA Prop: PF Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)

The bet: Under 7.5 rebounds (at Chicago)
The odds: -140

The BetPrep Prop of the Day took a step back after Donovan Mitchell failed to go Over his points total against Memphis. That brings this segment to 11-4 over the past few weeks, which includes the weekend plays posted to @BetProps on Instagram and TikTok.

For Wednesday, the BetPrep folks are betting Boston Celtics’ forward Jayson Tatum Under 7.5 rebounds against the Chicago Bulls.
