The Packers are coming off a convincing win against the Rams, where they held the lead the entire game, ending in a 24-12 victory. It’s encouraging they got a taste of the success, something they’ll need for the season’s final three games. So even with their current two-game win streak, let’s break down what has to happen for Green Bay to sneak into the playoffs.

Packers Playoff Picture

There are a few things that we know for sure when it comes to the current playoff picture. The Vikings have clinched the NFC North, so the Packers have to vie for a wild card spot. The Cowboys already secured one of those three wild card spots, so now there are two remaining in the NFC.

Heading into Week 16, the Giants (8-5-1) and Commanders (7-6-1) are holding those two other spots. So with the Packers 1.5 games behind the Commanders for the third spot, Green Bay will most certainly have to win out to make the playoffs.

But, Houston (no, not the Texans), we have a problem. Both the Lions (7-7) and Seahawks (7-7) are a half-game back of the Commanders and look to make a similar push toward the postseason. The good news is, the Packers will get a chance to thwart the Lions’ chances in an upcoming matchup in Week 18. So what else needs to happen in the remainder of the regular season?

Can The Packers Make The Playoffs?

The answer is simple for the Packers. Win. It doesn’t matter how. Just get the job done, especially against the Lions, and they will give themselves the best opportunity to make the playoffs. The part left up to luck is that ideally, the Giants, Commanders, Seahawks, and Lions will lose the remainder of their games. With that being a possibility, DraftKings has an offer that may pique your interest.

Odds at DraftKings Sportsbook for the Packers to make the playoffs:

  • Yes +650
  • No -1200

If you bet $100 on the Packers to make the playoffs, your bet will return $650 in profit. On the other hand, you have to bet $1,200 to profit $100 for Green Bay to not make the postseason.

In other words, the bookmakers highly doubt Green Bay will make the postseason.

The Bottom Line

This bet is definitely a long shot and Green Bay will need to battle against the Dolphins and Lions who are both still jockeying for playoff position.

However, their Week 17 game against the Vikings may be the sneaky win they need to carry some momentum into their final regular season game if Minnesota decides to rest some starters in preparation for the playoffs.
