Damian Lillard UNDER 25.5 Points
Lillard has gotten off to a slow start this season. Of course, that’s relative to his lofty All-Star-caliber standards. We all know “Dame” has the ability to get hot and fly past this point total on any given night. However, I believe there’s value in taking the under.
First off, Lillard hasn’t scored more than 25.5 points in all seven games this year. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and check out his game log here … Pretty crazy, right? That doesn’t necessarily mean this trend will continue, as Lillard isn’t going to shoot 23% from three for the entire season.

However, there’s a good chance he’ll stay under this number against the Cavaliers. Cleveland ranks 23rd in pace, and they were eighth in defensive efficiency to point guards last season. I fully acknowledge that it’s not fun to root for unders, but that’s where the value lies this evening.
Dejounte Murray UNDER 18.5 Points
Murray isn’t known for his scoring upside, as he’s more of a facilitator in the “sharing is caring” philosophy of San Antonio. Every now and then the Spurs will ask him to do his best James Harden impression, but those cases are few and far between.
Murray has gone under this total in four of seven games this season. He has scored more than 20 points in three games this year, but he needed to shoot greater than 50% from distance to get there. Another one was boosted by overtime.
The matchup against Dallas doesn’t look great on paper either. The Mavericks were top ten in defensive efficiency to point guards last season, and they currently hold that ranking to begin 2021. Dallas also plays slow (29th in possessions per game), which could curb opportunities for Murray and company.
Collin Sexton UNDER 19.5 Points
Sexton is way too inconsistent to have a point total this high. I fully acknowledge that the matchup looks good against a Portland team that ranked 30th in defensive efficiency to point guards last season. However, I really don’t believe that the former Alabama guard can score in the 20’s tonight.
Sexton has gone under this point total in seven of nine games this season. One of the few times he hit the over happened with Darius Garland out of the lineup, meaning Sexton was asked to take on more usage. That won’t be the case tonight, as Garland is active and healthy.
The Cavaliers have numerous scoring options on their squad, which decreases the probability of a “takeover game” from Sexton. There’s always the outside chance he catches fire, but the odds seem slim.
