We are coming off a 3-3 outing yesterday, so let’s look to get above .500 with tonight’s Underdog Fantasy NBA picks for Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Jalen Suggs OVER 9.5 Points
— Head over to Jalen Suggs BetPrep Player Page, and you’ll see that he easily averages over 9.5 points per game. Currently, Suggs averages 12.5 points per contest, his most being a 15-point game against Miami.
— The Orlando Magic play the Charlotte Hornets tonight, a team led by Lamelo Ball, one of the league’s best scorers. Jalen Suggs will have to play at his best against the Hornets.
— Averaging 28.5 minutes per game will give Jalen Suggs plenty of time to score over the 9.5 points expected of him. He’s also an incredible free-throw shooter at 87.5%, giving him another opportunity to bolster his point total.
Marcus Smart OVER 10.5 Points
— Marcus Smart essentially runs the entire offense for the Boston Celtics, giving him multiple opportunities to be in scoring position. By dictating the flow of the game, Smart puts himself in positions to score from beyond the arc as well.
— Currently, he only averages 7.5 points per game, which could deter some bettors. However, he averages 13-points against the Wizards per his BetPrep Player Page. His 15-point game against the New York Knicks should give you much more confidence in him.
— With Al Horford and Romeo Langford both sidelined, Marcus Smart should play a much larger role in the offense. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are also coming off big games as well.
Kyle Lowry UNDER 15.5 Points
— Although Lowry was considered a good shooter in previous years, his field goal percentage has dropped dramatically. Currently, he shoots 26.3% from the field. This isn’t nearly good enough to have over 15.5 points.
— His percentage from the three-point line is much worse. Through two games played, his three-point percentage is 16.7%. This is likely why his assists per game are so high. He’s become more of a distributor than a shooter.
— Jimmy Butler is the primary focus on offense, with players such as Bam Adebayo providing support. Kyle Lowry just doesn’t have as many opportunities to score. Even if he did, his shooting percentage doesn’t allow him to score many points.
Miles Bridges OVER 7.5 Rebounds
— Miles Bridges currently averages 8.5 rebounds per game. His most rebounds in a game were ten versus the Boston Celtics. It’s very realistic he could get another ten against the Orlando Magic.
— The Orlando Magic doesn’t have a whole lot of great shooters on their team. They’re actually one of the worst in the NBA, with a 40.5 field-goal percentage. This leads to missed shots, which leads to more rebounds for Bridges. Orlando also ranked 22nd in rebound rate last season. I’m not sure that number will improve too much in 2021-22.
— P.J Washington, the Hornets power forward, is listed as out for the game against the Magic. They’ll likely rely on Bridges to pick up the slack in his absence, which equates to more rebounds as well.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope OVER 1.5 Assists
— Although he finished the game without a single assist against the Nets, Caldwell-Pope has a much more favorable matchup against Boston. Especially because he’ll be guarded by Jayson Tatum, which will force him to pass more.
— Against the Celtics, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope averages two assists per game. Given his current situation of being the starting Small Forward, this should likely go up as well. When he was in Los Angeles, he saw less time on the floor.
— The Washington Wizards are coming off a big loss to the Brooklyn Nets and are continuing their road stretch. A focal point in this game for the coaching staff will be moving the ball around to score. Caldwell-Pope is an intrinsic part of this offense and should have a larger role in distributing the ball.
