Let’s head into the final day of the preseason with our Jets vs. Giants predictions for Sunday, Aug. 27.

The Jets will have “home-field advantage” in this preseason battle for New York. In other words, the field and banners will show their logo. Otherwise, both teams should feel at home in their shared habitat of MetLife Stadium.

Jets vs. Giants Trends

Let’s take a look at some relevant betting trends for the Jets vs. Giants as well as the NFL preseason in general:

  • The Giants beat the Bengals 25-22 last Sunday, putting them at 2-0 in the preseason.
  • The Jets scored 21 unanswered points to beat the Falcons 24-16 last Monday. NYJ is now 2-0 in the preseason.
  • Jets HC Robert Salah is 4-0 overall in the preseason.
  • First-year Giants HC Brian Daboll is 2-0 in the preseason.
  • Underdogs are 53.7% against the spread in the NFL preseason in the previous ten years.
  • As of Friday morning, DraftKings reports that 64% of tickets are on the Giants against the spread, but 88% of the money is on the Jets.
  • DraftKings also reports that 63% of betting tickets are on Over 38.5 total points but 55% of the handle is taking Under.

Dress Rehearsal For Jets

Jets HC Robert Salah mentioned his starters will play anywhere from one quarter to the entire first half on Sunday. Of course, the Jets will be without second-year quarterback Zach Wilson, as he recovers from knee surgery.

Joe Flacco will take snaps with the first unit on Sunday, which isn’t necessarily a massive downgrade in the grand scheme of things. Wilson hasn’t proved himself at the NFL level yet, and Flacco provides a confident veteran presence for the youthful Jets.

Salah hasn’t ruled out Wilson for Week 1 of the regular season, but it seems apparent that Flacco will take the helm while Wilson continues to recover.

The real story (for betting purposes) surrounds backup QB Chris Streveler, who has looked good in the preseason. He tossed three touchdowns in two exhibition games while leading comeback victories in both. Will Streveler steal the show again on Sunday?

Uncertainty Surrounds Giants Starters

The Jets somehow found a way to win both preseason games, and their New York counterparts mirrored those results with a pair of close exhibition victories of their own.

However, there’s a chance we won’t see many (or any?) Giants starters in this final preseason game. As of Friday afternoon, Giants HC Brian Daboll hasn’t officially made up his mind on who will play against the Jets.

Big Blue is currently decimated on the offensive line, all the way down to their sixth-string center. For that reason, it may be an unnecessary risk to put QB Daniel Jones in harm’s way. Then again, we thought the same thing with the Giants last week, and the starters played anyway.

We’ll need to keep an eye on any updates related to playing time and the Giants.

Jets vs. Giants Predictions

The spread opened at Giants -1 then climbed all the way to Jets -5. That was due to the Jets announcing their starters will see significant action.

Having said that, these games are usually decided in the second half. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor isn’t a firm downgrade from Jones. Third-string QB Davis Webb was tremendous for the Giants last week (22-of-27 for 204 yards & 2 TD). Both of these guys are capable of getting the job done.

This spread has gotten out of hand. Give me the Giants and the points in a game where anything can happen.

Prediction: Giants +5 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook
