— Villanova has failed to cover the spread in each of its three true road games. The Wildcats lost 57-36 at Baylor as a 5-point underdog and 86-77 in overtime at UCLA as a 3-point pup, and they defeated Penn 71-56 but came up short as an 18.5-point favorite.

Creighton has faced only three opponents that are either ranked or from a power conference. The Bluejays upset No. 24 BYU 83-71 as a 4-point neutral-site underdog; lost to No. 9 Iowa State 64-58 as a 5.5-point home favorite; and lost 58-57 to Arizona State on Tuesday as a 7.5-point home chalk.

Villanova is 1-3 SU/ATS against nationally-ranked teams this season. The victory came against No. 17 Tennessee, 71-53 as a 2-point neutral-site favorite. The three defeats all involved viable national championship contenders — at No. 2 UCLA, vs. No. 6 Purdue (80-74 as a 3.5-point neutral-site favorite), and at No. 2 Baylor.

— The Bluejays are 5-1 SU in their last six home games against ranked opponents, dating to February 2020. The combined totals in those contests: 122, 156, 140, 125, 137, and 140 points.

— Villanova is 7-3 SU/6-4 ATS in the last 10 head-to-head clashes with Creighton. However, the rivals have split the last four meetings in Omaha, both SU and ATS.

— Villanova and Creighton produced have averaged a combined 140.1 points in their last six meetings — well above tonight’s consensus total of 134. However, only three of those contests yielded 135 or more combined points; two of them were played at Creighton.

— This season, the Wildcats and their opponents are averaging 135.5 combined points per game, while Creighton and its foes are averaging 138.1 points per outing.

— Villanova currently has the eighth-best odds to win the NCAA title. Per DraftKings Sportsbook, the Wildcats are +1800 to cut down the nets.

— Player to Watch: Villanova guard Collin Gillespie is making the most of his senior-year reprieve, leading the club in scoring (16.2 points per game) while also collecting multiple steals on five different occasions. Last spring, Gillespie suffered a knee injury that precluded him from participating in the NCAA Tournament. As an opt-in for this season, he’s buried 36 of 83 three-point shots, good for a 43.4-percent shooting clip.
