Ohtani Keeps Moving Up
The Angels do-it-all player had +200 odds to win the award heading into the season, which was the best on the board. Due to a hot start, Ohtani now had commanding -105 odds to walk away with his second AL MVP Trophy.
His odds are hardly surprising given his phenomenal start to the season. Through 28 games, he has already notched 18 runs, 32 hits, 18 RBI, and 11 walks, with a batting average of .294. Ohtani’s incredible two-way play has him firmly in the conversation for not just the AL MVP award, but also the AL Cy Young.
Adley Rutschman Has Entered The Chat
Aaron Judge, the reigning AL MVP, has started off the 2023 season a bit slower than usual, hitting .261 with 6 homers and 14 RBI in 92 at-bats. However, he is still a formidable presence in the Yankees’ lineup and could easily heat up as the season progresses. Judge had +500 odds heading into this season, but he has slipped to +1200 after the first month.
Perhaps the most surprising name on the list of AL MVP contenders is Adley Rutschman. The young catcher has been tearing it up for the Orioles this season, hitting .291 with 4 HR and 17 RBI in 103 at-bats. To have the same odds as Aaron Judge at this point in the season is a testament to Rutschman’s talent and potential.
As the season continues, it will be interesting to see how the AL MVP race develops and which players emerge as the frontrunners. With so many talented players in the mix, it’s anyone’s guess who will come out on top.
