The Memphis Grizzlies enter Game 6 with a strong disadvantage, at least from a betting perspective. They are winless (0-17) as road underdogs this season and are 2-15 against the spread in those games. Analysts and bettors alike should be paying attention to this undeniable trend ahead of tonight’s pivotal matchup with the Lakers.

The Lakers are listed as 4.5-point favorites in tonight’s matchup with a 220-point total, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

In Game 3, as four-point underdogs, the Grizzlies failed to cover with a 111-101 loss. The same result occurred in Game 4 as 4.5-point underdogs, where Memphis fell to the Lakers 117-111 in overtime. Now, as 4.5-point underdogs once again for Game 6, this trend could live on.

Part of the Grizzlies’ struggles could be due to the fact that they are shooting 42.2% from the field in the playoffs. Low production is causing them to miss shots, and subsequently miss covering the spread even in their losses.

Although Jaren Jackson Jr. (averaging a double-double) and Ja Morant have had a strong series, the Grizzlies have had a tough time containing both Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Ja Morant is an excellent addition to the scoring equation, but someone else will need to step up if they want to force a Game 7.
