Monday’s Best Bets featured two MLB picks, and both turned out to be winners. How about we throw some fuel on that mini-fire with three more MLB Best Bets?
For that metaphorical fuel, we’ll turn to one MLB moneyline and two MLB props. One is a seemingly mispriced road team with a pair of strikeout props to boot.
So pull up a chair near our “Best Bets campfire.” We’ll try to raise the flame and send some heat your way.
All odds updated as of 12:30 p.m. ET on June 7.

Matt Perrault of The Bostonian vs. The Book podcast (which can be found on the Props podcast page) is rolling with the Cubs on Tuesday. He can’t understand why the Cubs moneyline is so short, considering the pitching advantage for Chicago. Here’s the full rationale behind this pick:
- Cubs starting pitcher Keegan Thompson is 6-0 with a 1.99 ERA.
- Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Brandish is 1-3 with a 6.82 ERA.
- The Cubs bullpen has the best xFIP on the season at 3.31. The Orioles rank 15th in that metric at 3.95.
- The Cubs offense ranks 15th in wRC+ while Baltimore ranks 24th.
Add it all up, and Perrault says betting the Cubs -108 moneyline is a bargain. You can find these odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

MLB Prop: SP Justin Verlander (Houston Astros)
The prop: Over 5.5 strikeouts
The odds: -150
Where to bet: Draftkings Sportsbook
From: Spencer Limbach
Two starts ago, Verlander had trouble with the Mariners. The veteran coughed up 10 hits, six earned runs, and four homers (ouch!) across six innings. Despite that shellacking, he still managed to go Over 5.5 strikeouts. Verlander has a great chance to top that mark against Seattle on Tuesday, as well. Here’s why:
- Verlander has gone Over 5.5 strikeouts in 6-of-10 starts this year.
- Seattle ranks middle-of-the-pack in MLB strikeout rate at 22.1%.
- Verlander has gone Over 5.5 strikeouts in 2-of-3 starts against Seattle this season.
- BetPrep’s player prop tool signals a 22% expected value to the Over.
Put it all together, and the veteran righty is a strong bet to rack up at least six strikeouts in this home date with Seattle. You can find Verlander Over 5.5 strikeouts (-150 odds) at BetMGM.

BetPrep Prop of the Day: SP Mitch White (LA Dodgers)
The bet: Under 4.5 strikeouts
The odds: -146
Where to bet: FanDuel Sportsbook
From: BetPrep Prop of the Day via BetPrep.com
BetPrep cashed its portion of Monday’s Best Bets, as Mets’ SP Carlos Carrasco flew past 4.5 strikeouts. He finished with 10 for a sweat-free winner.
We wouldn’t mind another one of those, and BetPrep is looking toward Dodgers’ pitcher Mitch White to deliver (or fail to deliver in this case). The official pick: White Under 4.5 strikeouts at Chicago White Sox.
White has started three games this season, hitting five-plus strikeouts just once. The 27-year-old righty has thrown a maximum of 78 pitches over that span, so don’t expect him to work deep into the game. On top of that, the White Sox have the fifth-lowest strikeout rate in MLB at 19.7%.
White struck out seven in his last start on June 1. However, that was against the Pirates, who have the fifth-highest strikeout rate (24.2%) in MLB. He should have a tougher time punching out hitters on Tuesday in Chicago.
You can find White Under 4.5 strikeouts at FanDuel Sportsbook.
