Our NFL player prop bet series rolls on with Odell Beckham Jr. Will the Cleveland superstar go over or under his 67.5 yard receiving prop in Week 4?
We’ll break down everything you need to know when it comes to this wagering option.
Beckham’s Growing Volume
Odell Beckham Jr. lost most of his 2020 season due to a torn ACL in the middle of the season. Heading into 2021, Beckham Jr. seemed completely healthy based on posts that he sent out on social media and reports surrounding his workouts in the offseason. With that being said, I was a bit surprised to see him sit out the first 2 weeks because of the knee injury that ended last year’s season.
Once Jarvis Landry got hurt in week 2, I think that the Browns realized that OBJ was an important piece to their offensive success and he immediately practiced in full leading up to his week 3 performance where he looked more than healthy. Beckham Jr. reeled in 5 catches for 77 yards in a blowout win vs. the Bears and I think that this tells us a lot about what to expect over the rest of the season.
The Matchup At Minnesota
While he only had 5 catches, he saw 9 targets and this wasn’t a standard 9 target game. This was 9 targets while only playing 64% of snaps in the game where they didn’t have to play catchup at any point in time. This week they play Minnesota, who has had more than a little offensive success this season and I think that this is not some big fluke. The Vikings are running a lot of creative stuff on offense and Kirk Cousins and Adam Theilen are having great starts to career-defining seasons.
I think that this should be a competitive game and I think that the Browns will continue to use OBJ more and more as the season goes along. Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz are both great talents and have a role in the offense, but this is OBJ’s passing offense at this point and I think that his usage last week was an indicator of that, especially when we consider the fact that it was his first game and he was limited all offseason.
NFL Player Prop Bet Conclusion
I expect OBJ to see 10+ targets this season while Jarvis Landry is out and this would result in a smash spot for him against the Vikings. The Vikings’ defense isn’t good and this is a team that can be gotten in the slot and outside, meaning that the Browns should be able to simply put OBJ in the best matchup on any given play.
I love the over here and I think we could see him smash all of his props this week.
