Here we go with our MLB All-Star Game predictions, props, and best bets.

While this is a difficult event to handicap, we found a few betting angles worth pursuing. The action starts at 8 p.m. ET, so be sure to get those picks in prior to first pitch.

American League: Power For Days

Shane McClanahan of the Tampa Bay Rays will start for the American League. He currently ranks first among qualified starters with a sparkling 1.71 ERA. McClanahan proudly carries an elite 11.95 K/9 rate as well, which trails only Dylan Cease of the White Sox. Translation: this guy can pitch and strike batters out in the process. Of course, each teams’ starting pitcher will probably toss just one inning while trying to give each pitcher a chance to throw.

On offense, the American League will start with the following lineup:

  1. Shohei Ohtani – LAA
  2. Aaron Judge – NYY
  3. Rafael Devers – BOS
  4. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – TOR
  5. Giancarlo Stanton – NYY
  6. Byron Buxton – MIN
  7. Tim Anderson – CWS
  8. Andres Gimenez – CLE
  9. Alejandro Kirk – TOR

This is an All-Star Game, so you are going to have loaded lineups. However, this gauntlet of hitters seems insane, especially considering the power at 1-6.

National League: Kershaw Will Start

Clayton Kershaw will start for the National League. The 34-year-old lefty is having another solid season with a 2.13 ERA, but his 9.42 K/9 rate is marginally lower than his career baseline. Regardless, Kershaw is deserving of this start, and it’s a nice touch that he’ll throw out the first pitch in his home of Dodger Stadium.

The National League will start with the following lineup:

  1. Ronald Acuna Jr. – ATL
  2. Mookie Betts – LAD
  3. Manny Machado – SD
  4. Paul Goldschmidt – STL
  5. Trea Turner – LAD
  6. Willson Contreras – CHC
  7. William Contreras – ATL
  8. Joc Pederson – SF
  9. Jeff McNeil – NYM

This group of hitters isn’t too shabby either. Some of these hitters will get switched out after a few at-bats, especially those towards the bottom half of the lineup.

Who Is The Public Betting?

UPDATE TUESDAY 10:45 am ET: DraftKings reports that 65% of betting tickets and 57% of the betting handle is on the American League moneyline … Meanwhile, the Over is seeing 80% of betting tickets and 72% of the handle.

MLB All-Star Game Predictions

Should we just come out and say it? Okay, fine: All-Star games can be frustrating for betting purposes. The lines are tight, and there’s not much separating each squad.

However, the American League is marginally better…at least on paper. They have slightly better odds at Caesars Sportsbook as well.

Even though it probably doesn’t carry any predictive value, it’s interesting to note that the AL has gone 26-6-1 against the NL in the last 33 All-Star Games. The American League has a ton of power at the top of the lineup, and that should be enough to carry them to another victory.

MLB All-Star Game Prop Bets: First Inning Run

Will a run be scored in the first inning of this game? Yes, there are two aces starting this game, but they will be facing the best hitters in the world.

If you refer to our dedicated NRFI page — where we break down our top first inning bet every day — you’ll see that teams on average score more in the first inning.

Both of these offenses are just too good, so we are taking a run to be scored in the first inning at Caesars Sportsbook, given the shorter odds on this side.

The pick: Yes Run First Inning (-110) | Caesars Sportsbook

MLB All-Star Game Props: MVP

Here are the odds for the MLB All-Star Game MVP at Caesars Sportsbook:

  • Shohei Ohtani +450
  • Aaron Judge +550
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr +800
  • Mookie Betts +1000
  • Giancarlo Stanton +1200
  • Paul Goldschmidt +1200
  • Trea Turner +1800
  • Ronald Acuna Jr +1800
  • Byron Buxton +1800
  • Manny Machado +1800
  • Rafael Devers +1800

The list goes on, but that covers most of the starters in this game.

Remember, bet small on this, as it’s a longshot that is difficult to predict. However, it appears that Rafael Devers has some strong value if you are going to take a flyer.

Devers has a legitimate shot to claim this award, akin to Judge, Guerrero, and others. We already mentioned that we like the American League to win the game, and a position player has taken home the award in 18 of the last 20 games. Why not Devers?
