Wisconsin vs. Oklahoma State Predictions

Wisconsin is in the midst of a transition, as Luke Fickell (former Cincinnati head coach) has been hired to take over the program. However, interim coach Jim Leonhard will continue to lead the Badgers for this game.

Neither team will have its primary quarterback. Spencer Sanders of Oklahoma State hit the transfer portal, as did Graham Mertz of Wisconsin. The Cowboys’ top running back, Dominic Richardson, has left the program as well. Take all that into consideration, and it could be tough sledding for both offenses in this bowl game.

Of course, Wisconsin still wants to run the ball as much as possible. The Badgers could find success in that category against an Oklahoma State team that ranks 102nd in yards per rushing attempt and 98th in overall run defense. That’s the edge here. Feed the ball to those running backs and let the Wisconsin offensive line do its thing.

Oklahoma State could have problems consistently moving the football with Garret Rangel likely starting. Rangel played the entire game in the regular season finale against West Virginia, and he was inefficient while going 18-of-42 for 178 yards with no touchdowns. Wisconsin should be able to keep the Cowboys’ offense in check and control this game.
