Every NFL season, the question of who will lead the NFL in rushing yards is always answered by an offensive linchpin. BetMGM has the odds that will potentially provide an answer for those looking to place a popular NFL futures bet in this major category.
Who Will Lead NFL In Rushing Yards For 2023?
Browns RB Nick Chubb and Colts RB Jonathan Taylor are favored to have the most rushing yards in 2023. Chubb comes in as the favorite after placing third in 2022 with 15,25 rushing yards behind runner-up Derrick Henry and 2022 overall leader Josh Jacobs (1,653).
Alongside Chubb at +700 odds is Colts RB Jonathan Taylor whose 861 yards are a bit deceiving, as he only played 11 games in 2022 due to injury, but was the 2021 rushing yards leader. Rounding out the top three is Titans RB Derrick Henry (+900) whose strong 2022 season with 1,538 rushing yards speaks for itself.

Who Had The Most Rushing Yards In 2022?
With so much buzz around Chubb and Taylor being the favorite going into 2023, where is last year’s leader Josh Jacobs? The Raiders RB is in the middle of a contract holdout with his current team. Vegas missed the July 17 deadline to finalize a deal with their star RB, and now the possibility of Jacobs missing training camp, preseason, and potentially part of the regular season could be impacting his odds at defending his 2022 rushing yards title.
With last year’s incumbent on the sidelines (for now), Chubb and Taylor look to step into the spotlight in 2023. Chubb in particular showed flashes of dominance against the Chargers where he rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor had an impressive game of his own with 147 yards and one touchdown against the Raiders.
Player | Rush Yds | Att | TD |
---|---|---|---|
Josh Jacobs | 1653 | 340 | 12 |
Derrick Henry | 1538 | 349 | 13 |
Nick Chubb | 1525 | 302 | 12 |
Saquon Barkley | 1312 | 295 | 10 |
Miles Sanders | 1269 | 259 | 11 |
Dalvin Cook | 1173 | 264 | 8 |
Justin Fields | 1143 | 160 | 8 |
Christian McCaffrey | 1139 | 244 | 8 |
Travis Etienne | 1125 | 220 | 5 |
Aaron Jones | 1121 | 213 | 2 |
Derrick Henry is the last question mark in the ensuing battle between these top RBs. The Titans star has been consistently at the top of the league in rushing since 2019, including a monster 2,027 rushing yards season in 2020.
Henry also could have potentially taken the crown away from Jacobs in 2022 as he needed just 116 yards in one extra game since he played 16 compared to Jacobs’ 17.
However, as mentioned in the AFC South Predictions article, Henry is at a certain point in his career where the production could drop off.
Nick Chubb Is The Most Popular Bet
In addition to being the favorite going into the 2023 season, Chubb is also bringing in the most amount of betting support with 20.5% of tickets at BetMGM.
The Browns RB has definitely earned the support too as Jim Brown is the only other Browns player to have rushed for 1,000+ yards for four straight seasons. This could be the year Chubbs takes home the title as second place in 2019 and 2021 are his best finishes so far.

Big Bets On Najee Harris To Win Rushing Title
The Pittsburgh Steelers catalyst is receiving immense support with an astonishing 42.1% of money behind Harris to lead the league in rushing yards. This more than doubles the 16.6% of money backing the favorite, Nick Chubb.
Harris has had an impressive two seasons after being drafted in 2021. He has rushed for 1,200 and 1,034 yards respectively the past two seasons, which definitely puts him in elite company, but not necessarily enough to justify such immense support. While Harris was 4th in 2021 in overall rushing yards, he followed that up with 15th in the overall standings in 2022.
So perhaps it’s his willingness to speak up about paying running backs fairly? Or maybe bettors are very confident in the assumption that the Steelers made the necessary changes on the offensive line. Only time will tell.
