Marquette vs. Baylor Predictions

Baylor is a legitimate top-ten team that holds a 5-1 record. The Bears defeated UCLA 75-70 but lost to Virginia 86-79 in its two games against top competition. Marquette isn’t quite in the same category as those two sides, but the Golden Eagles are more than capable of putting up a fight at home. This will be Baylor’s first true road game of the season, as its other contests were at home or a neutral site.

Marquette checks into this matchup with a 5-2 record. The Golden Eagles lost 75-70 at Purdue and 58-55 in a neutral site game against Mississippi State. Marquette won convincingly in its other five games, including an 84-60 rout of Georgia Tech as seven-point favorites.

Marquette’s five-point loss at Purdue is encouraging, as the Boilermakers rank fifth in the country. In other words, Marquette is more than capable of hanging with top competition, and it helps that the Golden Eagles will host this game in front of their upset-minded fans.
