The New York Giants have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL this season. They boast a 3-1 record through four games. Their only loss came against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. They don’t truly have any great wins with their success coming against the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, and Chicago Bears.

The Green Bay Packers were dominated by the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. Since then, they’re 3-0, including a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’re coming off of a somewhat disappointing game against the New England Patriots, although they did pick up the win.

In this article, I’ll break down the odds for this game and you’ll find my favorite Giants vs. Packers predictions.

Giants vs. Packers Trends

Let’s take a look at some relevant betting trends for the Giants vs. Packers as well as the NFL in general:

  • New York boasts a 3-1 ATS record this season
  • Green Bay owns a 2-2 ATS record in 2022
  • As of Thursday afternoon, 47% of the bets and 63% of the handle were on Green Bay -8 spread
  • DraftKings also reports that 70% of the bets and 57% of the handle is on over 40.5 points

  • Green Bay’s posted a 1-3 over/under record this season

First Half Offensive Struggles

The Giants and Packers are two offenses that I’m expecting could get better as the season progresses. New York is getting acclimated to a new head coach and system while Green Bay has a new-look offense, specifically with their wide receivers.

The Giants have struggled to find success in the first half of their games this season. They rank 28th in the NFL in first-half points (5.8) per game. New York is also allowing the seventh-fewest first-half points (8.5) per game. This is only 0.2 points off of a top-5 ranking.

The Giants are coming off their best first half of the season. They scored 14 points against the Chicago Bears. Prior to that, they totaled only 9 points in the first half of their first three games in 2022.

The Packers have been better in the first half, although they’ve been far from dominant at this point. They’re averaging 11.3 first-half points per game in 2022, which ranks 17th in the NFL. They’re also holding their opponents to only 9.3 first-half points per game. This ranks in the top 10 of the league.

The Packers’ first-half points are a bit skewed by their game against the Bears. They scored 24 points in the first half of that contest. They also scored 14 points in the first half against Tampa Bay, flashing the ability to score. They recorded only 7 points against New England and Minnesota combined, though, suggesting their early-game offense can be held down.

Across The Pond

The Giants and Packers will both travel to London for this game. It will be played as a Green Bay home game, but they won’t have the advantages of playing in Wisconsin. Instead, both of these teams could be a bit out of sync after the long travel.

The Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints played the only game in London so far this season. They combined for 53 points in the game, yet only 20 points were scored in the first half.

The Giants have only played on the road once this season. They failed to score in the first half of their road game against Tennessee. This was their first game of the season, though, so we aren’t gaining much information for that contest.

The Packers have seen mixed results on the road. They failed to score in the first half against Minnesota before posting 14 points against Tampa Bay. It isn’t overly promising, though.

Giants vs. Packers Predictions

I do believe that these are two offenses that are going to continue to get better. The Giants are dealing with a plethora of injuries, though. It could be a while yet before their offense truly takes any kind of step forward.

The Packers already looked better last week after struggling early on. Romeo Doubs is taking steps forward, and he’s looking to break out as their WR1. Overall, this is still a questionable offense without elite big-play ability.
