DraftKings NFL Picks: Week 1 Recap
- Bet: Bills -2.5
- Odds: -110 at DraftKings
- Result: Win | +$9.54
I reviewed some statistics with all of you that lead us to the Bills. It turned out to be a good decision. It seemed the film told the Bills all they needed to know. It’ll be interesting to see how McVay fights to avoid being one-dimensional on both sides of the ball this season.
- Bet: 49ers at Bears | Over 41.5 points
- Odds: -105 at DraftKings
- Result: Loss | -$50
I thought the oddsmakers were underestimating the offenses in this game. It turned out they were tracking something completely different, the weather. The rain was absolutely insane! This is the sort of game I like to remove from consideration when making future predictions.
- Bet: Browns at Panthers | Panthers Under 21.5 Team Total
- Odds: -120 at DraftKings
- Result: Loss | -$50
This wager was looking great through 25 mins until a big score for the Panthers to close the half opened the door for the Over to land. The Browns’ defense looked great, but a few ‘fluke’ plays gave the Panthers a morale boost. Ask any Browns defender, and they’ll tell you 14 of the points shouldn’t have been on the board.
- Bet: Buccaneers at Cowboys | Under 50.5 Total Points
- Odds: -110 at DraftKings
- Result: Win | +$22.72
This one felt good and I’m not sure how anyone could’ve been on the other side of this total. The Cowboys were in shambles and are in even more of a never-say-never scenario than before.
- Bet: Cleveland Browns ML + Minnesota Vikings ML Parlay
- Odds: +281 at DraftKings
- Result: Win | +$70.45
Cleveland found a way to win, which will be a common theme until they can get Deshaun Watson on the field. Tight wins around 20-26 points a game. Limiting turnovers on offense and forcing teams on defense.
Minnesota looks good. Kevin O’Connell looks like he belongs, and I’m excited to see what the stacked Minnesota Vikings can do this season.
NFL Week 2 Predictions: Three Picks
This week I see the opportunity to take advantage of the same game teasers and an alternate spread line parlay. Let’s dive in!
Dolphins at Ravens Teaser: Under 51 & Dolphins +10
- Odds: -120 at DraftKings
- Amount: $60 to win $50
Miami rookie HC Mike McDaniel has a ton of buzz around him in South Florida. The Dolphins could emerge as a quiet contender with a win over the Ravens. With some of the fastest skill players in the league on offense and a young front seven supported by a sharp secondary, the Dolphins have a chance to win this game. I predict that preventing big plays down the field forces the Ravens to lean on their run game.
This will be a close game regardless of who is victorious, and it should stay Under 51 points. High of 86 and a 0% chance of rain at noon.
Browns at Jets Teaser: Over 33.5 & Browns -0.5
- Odds: -110 at DraftKings
- Amount: $55 to win $50
You’ll see me bet the Browns a lot this season if I can continue to find a way to capitalize on the oddsmakers. I can’t see the Jets winning this game with Joe Flacco having to dodge an aggressive and fast pass rush all day. The Browns’ defense will show up big time in front of the dawg pound.
However, I like the probability of this game’s total points to clear 33.5 better than the Under at 45.5. Flacco threw for over 300 yards against the Ravens and should be good for at least 10 points. I’m counting on the Browns to do the rest in their home opener.
High of 84 on Sunday with 0% chance of rain at noon.
Alternate Line Parlay: Steelers +4 & Vikings +4
- Odds: +159 at DraftKings
- Amount: $50 to win $79.57
The Steelers host the Patriots in their home opener, and these teams don’t play each other very often. The newly named Acrisure Stadium will be electric for this home opener. The loss of TJ Watt is tough, but I anticipate the Steelers finding a way to fill that void. There’s just not much to be excited about with the Patriots offense. The Steelers will find a way to get it done at home, or at least keep it within a field goal.
The Vikings travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. The Eagles struggled to stop the run and protect their quarterback in Week 1 at Detroit. That’s not a good recipe with Za’darius Smith and Danielle Hunter coming after Jalen Hurts. On top of that, Minnesota RB Dalvin Cook could have a huge game akin to D’Andre Swift’s 144 rushing yards against Philly last week.
I like Minnesota to upset the Eagles on the road.
