Most Popular Bet: Michigan Wolverines

BetMGM reports that Michigan has accounted for 14% of betting tickets to win the 2023 National Championship. That’s the most of any team. The Wolverines were just one touchdown away from the National Championship in last year’s loss to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. This year, they look to close that gap as they are set to bring in another strong recruiting class along with some talented transfers to get the job done.

As James T. Yoder, Host of Michigan Football Report, points out on Twitter — Michigan could be favored in every regular season game, even at Penn State and vs. rival Ohio State.

Alabama is next with 10.1% of tickets, and Ohio State is third with 10.1% of tickets. Both teams are obvious contenders for a championship run next season. The Crimson Tide are definitely a team to look out for as they locked up the number one recruiting class on National Signing Day with record-breaking nine five-star prospects.

Most Surprising Bet: Colorado Buffaloes

Everyone loves a longshot bet, and it appears that the Colorado Buffaloes are the favorite sleeper among the betting public. According to BetMGM, Colorado has accounted for 8.1% of betting tickets to win the 2023 National Championship. That’s the sixth most on this list.

Colorado has +25000 odds to win it all, but a percentage of bettors are buying into (literally) the hype train of new head coach Deion Sanders. The Pro Football Hall of Famer looks to bring the 1-11 Buffaloes squad back to life and bettors believe he can do just that. Sanders is fresh off guiding Jackson State to consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference titles so he is no stranger to the task.
