Will Toledo Be Without Its QB?
This is an interesting matchup, and it should be a pretty fun game to watch on ESPN. The main question heading into this contest revolves around the status of Toledo QB Dequan Finn. The sophomore signal-caller did not play in the Rockets’ last game against Eastern Michigan. Toledo pulled out a 27-24 win on the road while backup QB Tucker Gleason looked solid with 238 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
Still, Finn has impressed this year, and Toledo would feel his absence if he can’t play in this game.
Line Movement Toward Ball State
We probably won’t receive any official word on Finn’s status prior to the game. Remember, this is college football, and they don’t have to report injuries the same way the NFL does.
However, the line movement seems to indicate that Finn will not play on Tuesday. The line opened at Toledo -16.5, and it has fallen to the current spread of Toledo -11.5 as of Tuesday morning. The total has also dropped from 55.5 to 50.5.
Toledo vs. Ball State Predictions
I believe Ball State will play the Rockets close in this weekday battle. While Toledo freshman QB Gleason looked admirable against Eastern Michigan last week, his accuracy (15/27) wasn’t great.
Ball State is a legitimate running underdog behind sophomore RB Carson Steele, who has 1,082 yards and nine rushing touchdowns this season. He has tallied 100+ rushing yards in 7-of-9 games while piling up 192 yards at Kent State last Tuesday.
Expect Ball State to run the ball, melt the clock, and keep this one close. I wouldn’t be overly surprised if the Cardinals take this game outright, but we’ll keep it safe and take the points.
The Pick: Ball State +11.5 | -110 at Betway Sportsbook
