Seahawks vs. Cowboys Trends

Let’s take a look at some relevant betting trends for the Cowboys vs. Seahawks as well as the NFL preseason in general:

  • The Seahawks lost their second preseason game 27-11 vs. Chicago.
  • The Cowboys won their second preseason game 32-18 at Los Angeles (A).
  • Seattle HC Pete Carroll is 26-19 in the preseason with the Seahawks.
  • Dallas HC Mike McCarthy is 1-5 in the preseason with the Cowboys
  • Underdogs are 53.7% against the spread in the NFL preseason in the previous ten years.
  • As of Wednesday afternoon, DraftKings reports that 14% of tickets and 55% of the money are on the underdog Seahawks against the spread.
  • DraftKings also reports that 37% of betting tickets and 85% of the handle have selected Under 37 total points.

Which QB Will Take Over In Seattle?

Pete Carroll recently said he believes he has two “true No. 1s” in quarterbacks Geno Smith and Drew Lock. It certainly has not been easy for Carroll to make his first starting quarterback decision in ten years.

We should see both Smith and Lock behind center with the first unit. While the rest of the starters shouldn’t play more than a quarter, we should see each quarterback out for an extensive period of time.

I don’t think we’ll get a gauge of who will start Week 1 unless someone blatantly performs better in this final preseason game.

Cowboys’ Starters To Sit For Finale

The Cowboys have no debate about their starting QB: Dak Prescott. The longtime Dallas starter has not logged any playing time in the preseason, and head coach Mike McCarthy has confirmed that Prescott will hold the clipboard for the preseason finale. Look for Ben DiNucci, Cooper Rush, and Will Grier to all get time behind center as they’ll battle for the backup spot.

Along with Prescott, we shouldn’t expect any Dallas starters to see the field on Friday. Ezekiel Elliot and CeeDee Lamb have yet to see the field in any preseason game, and McCarthy isn’t going to run them out with the second unit.

Even with two quarterbacks that have previously started in the NFL, the Seahawks have yet to get a victory in the preseason this year.

Seahawks vs. Cowboys Prediction

This game should play out similarly to the Seahawks’ first preseason contest. That means Smith and Lock will get a majority (if not all) of the snaps. Quarterback competitions are usually good for preseason expectations, and that’s the case with Seattle here. Taking a pair of motivated Seahawks’ signal-callers against an underwhelming group of Dallas backups is the right call.

Prediction 1: Seahawks -7 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

The last time both Lock and Smith started, the Seahawks put up 25 points against the Steelers. They should be able to match and even exceed that on Friday.

All of the Cowboys’ quarterbacks have also started a game at some point in the NFL, and they should also be successful against a Seattle defense that has allowed 59 points in the preseason.

Expect a high-scoring preseason finale in Jerry’s World.

Prediction 2: Over 37 total points | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook
