Here we go with a Sunday evening battle for NFL Preseason Week 2. We’ll break down the Bengals vs. Giants predictions and odds for this matchup in East Rutherford.

Both teams contain different game plans. We won’t see any marquee players for Cincinnati, but New York will give several starters ample playing time.

Tyrod Taylor’s Time To Shine?

Expectations are (relatively) high in New York as the Giants bring in a new coaching staff and GM.

Year four of the Daniel Jones project could be the last chance for the QB to establish himself as the franchise quarterback. Or at least buy himself more time.

Head coach Brian Daboll announced Tyrod Taylor was getting first-team reps during practice this week, and he wants to get Taylor some time with the first unit in this game. This could mean Jones won’t play in this game at all.

The team will be missing quite a few offensive weapons, with Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton, and Sterling Shepard not expected to play Sunday. Collin Johson had seven catches for 82 yards, and Richie James, with three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown, should continue to get a ton of reps.

No Starters For Bengals

We didn’t see any starters on the field for the first game for the Bengals, and we likely won’t see them again for this game. Primary backup QB Brandon Allen got the start and only saw one series. Jake Browning saw most of the QB reps followed by Drew Plitt. A similar situation could play out on Sunday.

The AFC champions return most of their core players. They know they are a contender. There won’t be any battles for most positions and the offensive scheme remains the same. Therefore, head coach Zac Taylor isn’t taking any risks with his key players.

Bengals vs. Giants Predictions

Both teams head into this game with very different plans. We could see the Giants’ first unit play for most of the first half as they try to iron out the wrinkles of a new scheme. On the other hand, we won’t see any Bengals’ starters.

If Taylor gets a lot of time with the first unit, that will put the team in an excellent position to win.

Prediction 1: Giants -5.5 | -110 at DraftKing Sportsbook

When looking at this total, the Under is a smart play. We’re not going to see the Bengals play with their best talent, and the Giants will miss several playmakers. Don’t expect a high-scoring game.

Prediction 2: Under 38 | -110 at DraftKing Sportsbook
