The 2022 NFL preseason TV schedule has been posted, meaning we have clarity as to which games will be broadcast on major networks.
NFL Network will carry several live NFL preseason games as well as replays of weekly aired matchups from local affiliates. You can also watch every out-of-market preseason game on the newly launched NFL+ streaming platform.
A host of national broadcast providers will carry NFL preseason games as well. Channels like ESPN, FOX, CBS, and NBC are mainstays when it comes to NFL viewing. However, Amazon Prime Video is in the mix now, carrying one preseason tilt as well as 15 Thursday Night Football games in the regular season.
Be sure to check your local listings for NFL preseason games. It’s typical for certain markets to carry preseason games for the local team.
Hall Of Fame Game
The Hall of Fame Game technically counts as Week 1 of the NFL preseason even though it’s a full week before any other contest.

7 NFL Preseason Games Worth Watching
Now that we’ve outlined the whole NFL preseason schedule, let’s uncover seven games that are actually worth watching.
These contests have interesting storylines one way or another, even if the intrigue doesn’t necessarily include either team taking the field. Quite frankly, most of these compelling games come down to timing and the broadcast personalities covering them. What can we say? Monday Night Football just hits different. We are curious as to what Amazon Prime’s football experience will look like too.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders (Hall Of Fame Game)
Date: Thursday, Aug. 4
Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV: NBC
This will represent the first live professional football game (sorry USFL) in nearly six months. Do you need a stronger reason to tune in? Sure, nobody will remember who won the next day, but man, it’s good to have football back!
2. Minnesota Vikings at Las Vegas Raiders (Week 1)
Date: Sunday, Aug. 14
Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
TV: NFL Network
There’s nothing like NFL football on a Sunday afternoon, and this will be our first chance to experience it this season. The Vikings and Raiders have the day to themselves while kicking off at 4:25 pm ET.
The only caveat: you’ll need NFL Network to catch this one live. That’s right, time to re-subscribe to the sports package, folks!
3. Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks (Week 2)
Date: Thursday, Aug. 18
Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN
Ignore the teams taking the field. After all, the Bears and Seahawks are predicted to be among the bottom of the NFC standings. However, this is a Thursday evening standalone game on ESPN.
We’ll get to see the broadcast team of Troy Aikman and Joe Buck in their new ESPN digs. It will probably sound a lot like their old FOX digs. Just a guess.
4. Baltimore Ravens at Arizona Cardinals (Week 2)
Date: Sunday, Aug. 21
Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV: FOX
This is another game on the NFL preseason schedule that is carried by the broadcasters.
Aikman and Buck left FOX to join ESPN, so the new FOX No. 1 team of Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen will carry this Sunday evening clash.
5. Atlanta Falcons at New York Jets (Week 2)
Date: Monday, Aug. 22
Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN
Once again, ignore the teams in this matchup. Who cares? It’s Monday Night Football!

6. San Francisco 49ers at Houston Texans (Week 3)
Date: Thursday, Aug. 25
Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV: Amazon Prime
This is football the way it’s intended: Exclusively on a streaming platform tied to a retail giant.
Sarcasm aside: Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime is a thing this season, so get warmed up to the idea with the 49ers and Texans dueling backups in the last week of the preseason.
However, the broadcast team is of serious intrigue here. Longtime NFL voice Al Michaels makes his debut alongside top college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
7. Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 3)
Date: Sunday, Aug. 28
Time: 4:30 p.m. ET
TV: CBS
The college football season starts the day before this game, so why not make a full-out pigskin weekend?
The Lions and Steelers will play in the final NFL preseason game and CBS is giving us a chance to catch some afternoon football. Perhaps the Pittsburgh QB battle will continue through this game?
