Just how mainstream has sports betting become in recent years? Every time you flip on the TV, change a radio station, click on a website, or check social media, somebody somewhere is giving unsolicited wagering advice.
Well, now it’s our turn — but with a twist.
The Props.com content team will offer up our favorite plays of the day, be it on the point spread, total, or prop selections. And we’ll present it all in an easy-to-find, easy-to-read aggregated package.
Looking for our top NHL and NBA prop bets of the day? Our favorite college basketball wager from the day’s marquee games? The top picks from our Bostonian vs. The Book crew? You’ll find all of it right here.
The big difference between us and a lot of the “experts” who fire betting opinions at you from all corners of the multimedia universe? We don’t pretend to be fortune tellers who have tomorrow’s results today. So you won’t ever see any mentions of “lead-pipe, stone-cold locks” or “biggest bet of my life.” And we certainly will never advise you to wager anything more than what you’d drop on a family dinner at Chili’s.
We’re just having a little fun here, and hope you do, too. Which is to say: Don’t beat us over the head when we have a rough day. Because we will. And probably more often than not!

NHL Total: Pittsburgh Penguins At Tampa Bay Lightning

The odds: -115

From: Matt Perrault via The Bostonian Vs. The Book Podcast
If you recall, Matt Perrault nailed an NHL total as one of Tuesday’s Best Bets. He found another one to consider with the Penguins-Lightning Over 6 goals tonight.
“Why isn’t this line 6.5?” Perrault asked, clearly thinking this number is off.
“Is every game 6.5?” Dave Sharapan, co-host of The Bostonian vs. The Book responded. “It probably should be, the way the NHL is right now. I don’t want to take too many Lightning games Under right now. As we get closer to the playoffs, we’ll flip that switch and we’ll look Under.”
Perrault added to his enthusiasm for the Over with the following claims:
“Four of the last five have gone Over for Tampa. We can pencil in the Penguins to give up three goals per game, minimum, against a team like Tampa. My thought is a 5-3 final one way or another.”

NHL Prop: Pittsburgh Penguins C Evgeni Malkin
The bet: Over 0.5 points (at Tampa Bay)
The odds: Over -215
Where to bet: DraftKings Sportsbook
From: Jason Scavone via Thursday NHL Props
Earlier in the day, this prop was lined at -200 to the Over, and it was a ridiculously great value even at that juiced-up number. Now the odds are up to -215, and it’s down to merely excellent value.
Malkin isn’t even on another planet right now. He’s in an entirely different galaxy altogether. In his last 16 games, he’s failed to record a point … once. One time. Maybe he got bored and wanted to know what it felt like to be on the Maple Leafs the second they faced any pressure.
Sure, Malkin is facing the two-time defending champs in this one … you know, the same team against whom he’s recorded 54 points in 40 career games.

NBA Prop: Memphis Grizzlies C Steven Adams
The bet: Over 10.5 Rebounds (at Boston)
The odds: -115
Where to bet: Caesars Sportsbook
From: BetPrep Prop of the Day via BetPrep.com
The BetPrep folks are back on the winning side after Harrison Barnes easily crossed 15.5 points Wednesday night. So what do we have for an encore?
Ja Morant has been stealing the headlines for Memphis, but Steven Adams is doing the dirty work by cleaning the glass. That’s why BetPrep has Adams Over 10.5 rebounds as its prop of the day.
Consider these numbers for the Grizzlies’ big man:
- Adams has racked up 11-plus rebounds in 10 of his last 12 games.
- He has also snagged 11-plus rebounds in each of his last eight road games.
- Adams has beat this number in each of his last seven against an Eastern Conference opponent (Memphis is in Boston tonight).
You can grab the best odds (-115) for this prop at Caesars Sportsbook.
NBA Prop: Golden State Warriors PG Stephen Curry
The bet: Over 3.5 made 3-pointers (at Dallas)
The odds: -105
Where to bet: DraftKings Sportsbook or Underdog Fantasy
From: Matt LaMarca via Thursday NBA Props
Two days of NBA Props, two days of winners. Matt LaMarca looks to keep the streak alive by taking Stephen Curry Over 3.5 made 3-pointers. Here’s what he had to say:
Curry came out of the gates red hot this season, but he’s actually had a subpar shooting season by his lofty standards. He’s made “only” 37.5% of his 3-point attempts, which puts him on pace to finish below 41.1% for the first full season in his career.
Still, setting Curry’s 3-point prop at just 3.5 is blatant disrespect for the greatest shooter of all time. Even in a down year, he’s still making an average of 4.6 treys per game. He drilled five triples in his last outing, and he’s made at least four 3-pointers in 38 of 57 games. The Mavericks are a tough matchup — they’ve allowed the fifth-lowest frequency of 3-point attempts this season — but this line is simply too low.
