A seismic Big Ten doubleheader involving a quartet of Top 25 teams headlines the Tuesday college basketball betting slate.

First place is on the line in West Lafayette, Indiana, where No. 3 Purdue hosts conference leader Illinois in a rematch of a double-overtime classic from mid-January. Can the Boilermakers knock off the Illini again and forge a tie atop the Big Ten standings? Or will Illinois exact revenge and solidify its hold on first place?

About 250 miles to the northeast, the Tuesday college basketball betting menu also features No. 14 Wisconsin looking to grab share of the Big Ten lead with a victory over No. 17 Michigan State in East Lansing. It’s also a revenge situation for the Badgers, who were blown out by the Spartans at home last month.

Props.com breaks down the Tuesday college basketball betting odds for Illinois-Purdue and Wisconsin-Michigan State — four squads that have the talent to make deep runs in the NCAA Tournament.

Tipoff/TV: 9 p.m. ET/ESPN
Illinois: 17-5 SU (10-2 Big Ten)/11-11 ATS
Purdue: 20-3 SU (9-3 Big Ten)/12-11 ATS
Spread/Total: Purdue -5.5 (-105)/146.5
Last meeting: On Jan. 17, Purdue outlasted Illinois 96-88 in double overtime, as a 1.5-point road underdog
Did you know: Eight of the last nine series meetings have been decided by at least eight points, including six double-digit margins

About Illinois: The Fighting Illini have won four straight games (2-2 ATS). The streak started with narrow non-covering victories over Michigan State (56-55 as a 2-point home favorite Jan. 25) and Northwestern (59-56 as a 5.5-point road chalk Jan. 29). Then last week, Illinois thumped Wisconsin (80-67 as a 7-point home favorite) and Indiana on Saturday (74-57 as a 2-point road favorite). Among Big Ten programs, Illinois ranks first in rebounds (40.3 per game), third in scoring offense (77.1 ppg), third in scoring defense (allowing 65.5 ppg), and fourth in 3-point proficiency (37.0%).

About Purdue: The Boilermakers are riding a five-game winning streak (3-2 ATS) in which they’ve cleared 80 points every time. Most recently, Purdue outlasted Michigan 82-76 on Saturday but failed to cover as a 9.5-point favorite, with the teams easily toppling the 145-point total. In Big Ten circles, the Boilermakers rank first in scoring offense (84.5 ppg, 4th nationally), field-goal shooting (50.8%), 3-point proficiency (41.1%), and assists (18.2 per game). They’re also second in rebounding (39.8 per contest).

What’s At Stake: With a victory, Purdue (9-3) not only would tie Illinois (10-2) for first place, but the Boilermakers would own the head-to-head tiebreaker by virtue of a season sweep. Purdue and Illinois rank fifth and 12th, respectively, in the NCAA’s NET rankings, meaning both schools are in the hunt for a 1- or 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Players To Watch

Illinois guard Alfonso Plummer poured in a team-high 24 points to go with four rebounds in last month’s double-overtime home loss to Purdue. The 6-foot-1 junior is second on the team in scoring (15.3 ppg), having reached double digits in 15 of his last 18 games. He also ranks sixth nationally in free-throw shooting (92.42%).

Sophomore guard and NBA lottery prospect Jaden Ivey continues to shine for Purdue, having scored 20-plus points in three straight games and four of his last five. But Ivey isn’t carrying the entire load, as 7-foot-4 center Zach Edey leads the nation in field goal shooting (68.5%). Edey, who has scored in double figures in 18 of 23 games this season, ranks second to Ivey in scoring (14.9), and leads the Boilermakers in rebounding (7.6) and blocked shots (1.1).
