Texas Tech vs. Iowa State Predictions

Texas Tech is 0-8 in conference play this season. Iowa State is a quality, ranked team. However, the Cyclones check into this game after a humbling 78-61 loss to Missouri on Saturday. Even though Iowa State won the first meeting between these teams by 34 points, things should go differently with Texas Tech hosting this time around.

The Red Raiders aren’t a bad team. They have lost plenty of close games this season, and positive regression should happen at some point. However, it’s hard to believe that will come against an Iowa State team that is desperate to get back on track following a humbling loss. Yes, this game will be much closer than the 34-point deficit in the last meeting. However, the Cyclones should be able to lean on their quality defense (No. 10 in adjusted defensive efficiency according to KenPom.com) to pull this one out.

Outside of a loss at Oklahoma State, the Cyclones have been pretty good on the road in conference play. They beat TCU and Oklahoma on the road, and almost came out with a win at Kansas (lost 62-60). Plenty of people will say this is a “trap line” for Iowa State, but the talent should win out with the Cyclones here.
