Arizona State vs. Creighton Predictions
Coming into this season, Creighton had high expectations with a Top 10 ranking to boot. However, a difficult early season schedule has not been kind to the Bluejays. Creighton looked good in the Maui Invitational, beating Texas Tech and Arkansas before losing 79-81 to Arizona. Then the Bluejays fell on the road at No. 2 Texas. Things really started to unravel from there, as Creighton lost at home to a Nebraska team that is picked to finish last in the Big Ten. Finally, Creighton fell to BYU 83-80 on Saturday, marking its fourth loss in a row.
Arizona State enters this game with a 9-1 record, although its strength of schedule has been nowhere close to Creighton’s. The Sun Devils enjoyed an 87-62 win over Michigan (Nov. 17) and a 60-59 victory at Colorado (Dec. 1) as their biggest games of the year to this point. Arizona State’s only loss came in a 66-67 overtime upset against Texas Southern.
The big news here revolves around the status of Creighton big man Ryan Kalkbrenner. He missed Saturday’s loss to BYU, and the Bluejays were dominated in the paint without him. There’s a chance he returns from a non-COVID illness tonight, but we’ll wait to confirm his status.
If Kalkbrenner plays for the Jays, go ahead and bet on Creighton. If he’s out, then things will get interesting, as Arizona State could attack the Blue Jays in a similar fashion as BYU on Saturday. Keep your eyes out for any news.
