Quick review and expert opinion

PrizePicks is a fantasy-focused platform designed with casual players in mind, welcoming anyone 19 years of age or older (21+ in Arizona and Massachusetts) into a streamlined Daily Fantasy Sports experience.

Operating in 43 U.S. jurisdictions and parts of Canada, PrizePicks simplifies play with a “Pick ’em” format where you choose two to six player-based predictions per virtual slip. Your potential payouts scale up with the number of selections, and you can add “insurance” for a safety net—trading some top-end winnings for reduced risk.

The platform’s intuitive interface makes it accessible even for newcomers, while seasoned users can enjoy a suite of recurring promotions and ongoing bonus offers.

Those signing up for the first time can take advantage of a place $5, get $50 instantly offer, and once active, the variety of contests, flexible entry options, and ongoing promotions are a highlight, with frequent deposit bonuses, “Taco Tuesday” discounts, and other ongoing offers that boost value.

On the downside, banking methods remain somewhat narrow, and customer support, while available, may not always match the responsiveness and variety offered by bigger rivals.

Overall, PrizePicks provides an innovative DFS alternative that prioritizes simplicity, variety, and fun. The platform’s engaging player-prop approach, attractive promos, and accessible interface make it worth trying. In short, for anyone seeking a modern, streamlined DFS experience that values creativity and user-friendliness, PrizePicks comes recommended.

PrizePicks has been in operation for approximately a decade. It has honed its service on Pick ‘em contests while gaining accessibility in the vast majority of the United States.

Its original founder – Alex Wexler – remains active with the company as its Chairman of the Board.

Understanding the PrizePicks scoring system

Scoring at PrizePicks will vary quite a bit depending on which specific sport is being played.

Since many lineups include players from different sports, you’ll want to keep track of how different achievements are calculated (i.e. touchdowns, 3-pointers, stolen bases, goals, and so on).

For the most part, the scoring itself will be similar to common DFS metrics used on other platforms, but there ARE enough exceptions that you’ll want to review the PrizePicks system separately.

You can quickly consult scoring charts by tapping on the HELP tab in-app or on the browser version if you’re using a PC/MAC.

PrizePicks payouts explained

There are basically two types of Pick ‘em formats that players can choose from, both of which are similar to traditional “parlay” wagers.

Power play

A “Power Play” wager means that all predictions MUST be graded as winners for the Pick ‘em to pay winnings to the customer. The more selections on your Power Play, the higher the payout.

  • Win all 4 Picks (Pays 10x the original wager)
  • Wan all 3 Picks (Pays 5x the original wager)
  • Win both Picks (Pays 3x the original wager)

Flex play

A “Flex Way” is a bit safer than its alternative. Depending on the number of predictions you’ve made, you’ll receive a winning payout even if one or two of the guesses were incorrect.

  • All 6 Picks are correct (Pays 25x the entry fee)
  • 5 out of 6 Picks are correct (Pays 2x the entry fee)
  • 4 out of 6 Picks are correct (Pays 0.4x the entry fee)
  • All 5 Picks are correct (Pays 10x the entry fee)
  • 4 out of 5 Picks are correct (Pays 2x the entry fee)
  • 3 out of 5 Picks are correct (Pays 0.4x the entry fee)
  • All 4 Picks are correct (Pays 5x the entry fee)
  • 3 out of 4 Picks are correct (Pays 1.5x the entry fee)
  • All 3 Picks are correct (Pays 2.25x the entry fee)
  • 2 out of 3 Picks are correct (Pays 1.25x the entry fee)
  • Players will need to choose either a Power Play or Flex Play for each Pick ‘em contest they enter.

What are Prizepicks Demons & Goblins?

Demons and goblins in Pick ‘em contests are special options that allow you to adjust the difficulty and customize your odds of winning.

At certain points in your prediction process, a DEMON option may appear. This signifies a wager that is more of a “longshot” than normal odds.

If you select a particularly low odds DEMON (or several DEMONS on a single Pick ‘em contest), you could ultimately be awarded up to 200x your entry fee if all predictions turn out to be correct.

On the other hand, you can “go green” by choosing one or more GOBLINS to increase your odds of winning. However, this will correspondingly lower the final payout if you win.

You can even choose a mix of DEMONS and GOBLINS within the same Pick ‘em contest if you wish.

Whenever you have one or more DEMONS or GOBLINS in a contest, the customized payout structure will appear on your screen before you confirm.

In short, DEMONS mean higher risk and higher payouts; GOBLINS represent lower risk and lower payouts.

Pick ‘em arena overview

The Pick ‘em Arena at PrizePicks is where players can (more or less) compete against other members within a group.

In most cases, the lineups will be incorporated into a group of similarly skilled players.

You can win in the Pick ‘em Arena by correctly predicting all 2-6 Picks and/or by outperforming other players who are part of the same lineup group.

So, while there are no “heads-up” DFS contests for peer-to-peer competition, the platform itself will facilitate individuals who participate within a larger group.

Pick ‘em Arena contests come with an additional lineup fee to cover the commissions associated with these player-versus-player DFS contests.

PrizePicks betting limits

Betting limits fall under both the Responsible Gaming and Business Intelligence categories.

The limits are initially set by the platform and are customized for each individual.

This amount usually ranges between $100 to $200 of total wagers per day but can be adjusted depending on each customer’s deposit history and Source of Wealth check.

If the PrizePicks Responsible Gaming tools detect that you are spending too much time on the site/app or making irregular deposits, your daily wagering limit will be severely curtailed.

The same can likewise be said for Business Intelligence protocols. If you are a “sharp” winning player who is routinely outperforming other members, the site/app may decide to place excruciatingly low daily maximums on your account.

Sometimes, this maximum can be as low as $5 per 24-hour cycle. Trolling the PrizePicks social media pages and/or being rude to fellow members may also trigger a daily monetary cap on what you can wager.

Bonuses and promotions at PrizePicks

Bonuses and promotions at PrizePicks include a 100% first deposit match bonus of up to $100 for new customers.

To get the $100 maximum new customer sign-up bonus, you’ll need to make your first deposit of at least $100 by using either a major credit/debit card, online banking (ACH transfer), your PayPal account, or Google Pay.

It takes up to 24 hours for the bonus credits to appear in your PrizePicks account once you’ve deposited, so don’t fret if the extra funds don’t show up immediately.

Once you’ve received your extra prediction credits, you’ll need to clear them by playing through them at least once within a 30-day time frame. After 30 days upon receipt, any bonus funds will be forfeited if they haven’t been played through.

Of course, you don’t have to deposit $100 to get the 100% match bonus for your first buy-in.

However, the 100% bonus will apply directly to your first deposit, so if you buy $20 with your first deposit, your bonus amount will only be $20.

PrizePicks has lots of bonuses and promotions for returning players

PrizePicks offers plenty of additional benefits to keep players engaged well past their first week of play.

Below, I’ve compiled a detailed list of promotions that the platform offers to returning players.

Taco Tuesday

Every Tuesday, PrizePicks will “cook up” a few discounted player projections that can be chosen by its members.

These discounted projections have a “taco” icon next to them, and will be lowered by anywhere between 15% to 25%.

An abstract example of this would be a projection for Derrick Henry to obtain 30 fantasy points in the upcoming game.

A 15% discount would mean you can select Henry at only 25.5 points, while a 25% discount would have Henry needing only 22.5 fantasy points for your prediction to win.

The “tacos” are selected in-house by PrizePicks, but each player can decide whether to choose the discounted projection or ignore it and proceed with your lineup.

Refer a friend: get $25 bonus

If you have a friend you’d like to refer to PrizePicks, you can email the platform to receive a unique referral code.

If your friend uses that specific referral code when signing up for a new account, you’ll get $25 in bonus funds added to your own PrizePicks account.

The 1x playthrough terms and conditions apply to each $25 referral bonus, and the Invite Code must be received directly from PrizePicks.

Your friend(s) will also need to make an initial deposit and play through at least $50 in picks before each referral bonus is awarded.

Flex Friday

You will need to manually OPT IN for Flex Friday before 12:00 Noon Eastern Time on the day of the promotion. This can be done by tapping on the box provided, which will then make you eligible for the Flex Friday “protected play.”

Be sure to submit your lineup no later than 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the corresponding Friday.

To participate, select one or more of the squares on the protected play board (these can include DEMONS and GOBLINS).

If your lineup is a winner, you’ll receive the published payout in betting credits. If your lineup was unsuccessful, your account will be credited with the amount of your net losses for that lineup, up to a maximum allotment that corresponds to your personal promotional limit.

The protected plays are only available on Fridays and are yet another promotion aimed at retaining loyal PrizePicks customers.

Payout Boosts

Periodically, PrizePicks will publish increased payouts for specific selections.

These Payout Boosts will ALWAYS represent a prediction that applies for an entire game, and the increased payout possibility will go into effect as soon as your lineup settles.

If you have one or more predictions that rely on partial game results (by period, quarter, half, hole, inning, round, season, etc.), then your lineup will not be eligible to receive a Payout Boost.

Free Lineup

There will be times, as a loyal customer, that PrizePicks will offer you one Free Lineup to use for a specific contest.

The platform will notify you if you have a Free Lineup to use. Once you’ve been notified, you’ll be able to enter one Free Lineup into a predetermined contest without having any funds taken from your account.

This Free Lineup will be eligible to win prizes just like a paid lineup would be.

Rating: Bonuses and Promotions

9.0 out of 10 Stars

PrizePicks has one of the most extensive player retention portfolios in the online Daily Fantasy Sports and Pick ‘em markets.

If you’re a fan of the Pick ‘em format, there are plenty of ways for you to get extra value just by routinely logging into your account and participating in contests.

Game selection

The great thing about game selection at PrizePicks is that your lineups will span multiple sports.

In fact, you won’t be able to submit a lineup that solely contains players from one single team.

This helps to keep the online Pick ‘em experience fresh for a much longer time period.

Another facet of PrizePicks that improves game selection is the ability to adjust your overall risk through the use of DEMONS and GOBLINS.

With that said, you can choose to participate in Pick ‘em contests that incorporate all major sports that are played within the US – with the exception of NCAA games in certain states.

NFL football, NBA basketball, MLB baseball, NHL ice hockey, UFC mixed martial arts, ATP tennis, MLS soccer, WNBA basketball, and PGA golf are the most common markets that are included at PrizePicks.

Alternatively, there is growth around fantasy sports for NASCAR and Formula 1 racing as well as marquee boxing bouts.

As long as you’re diligent about submitting your lineups before each contest begins, you’ll be able to enjoy a wide variety of games, formats, and wager types.

Customers can – in some cases – make their own picks. However, by far the most popular game format at PrizePicks is the Pick ‘em player projections.

This is because the payouts are easy to understand and can even yield up to 200 times the original wager amount when one or more DEMONS are used.

Rating: Game Selection

8.0 out of 10 Stars

Some NCAA contests will be outright blocked, depending on the state from which you are playing.

Other than that, PrizePicks offers all the major markets and truly shines in the Pick ‘em category.

PrizePicks mobile app

Players can download the PrizePicks mobile app directly from the App Store (iOS smartphones and tablets) or Google Play storefront (Android operating system).

The app layout offers a “dark” theme in which four individual player projections fit on the same screen during lineup selection.

The toggles for adjusting your lineup (adding and subtracting predictions) are at the top of the screen in the form of menu buttons.

While it is easy to navigate through the PrizePicks app, you’ll still want to become familiar with the menu functions if you’re juggling multiple lineups or contests.

There’s not much difference in performance between the iOS and Android apps. Both will need to be downloaded and will require the prerequisite space on your smart device before they can be installed.

PrizePicks for desktop users (WiFi must be enabled)

You can still access the PrizePicks desktop version if you happen to be playing from a home office on your PC or MAC.

However, your personal computer MUST have a Wi-Fi card installed and active for this to work.

If you don’t have a Wi-Fi card, the geolocation function will present an error, and access will be denied.

The main benefit of using a PC or MAC is the larger screen space you’ll have to work with. This is especially useful if you’ve got a lot of lineups that are currently active.

Rating: PrizePicks Mobile App & Website

9.0 out of 10 Stars

The mobile app is of equal quality regardless of whether you’re playing from an Android or iOS smartphone/tablet. Take some time to memorize the menu functions and you’ll be able to easily navigate even when you have multiple lineups in play.

PrizePicks banking options and payout speed

You’ll have your choice of banking options for both deposits and withdrawals when playing on the PrizePicks app or desktop version.

How to deposit

  • Use a major credit or debit card that has the VISA or Discover logo on it.
  • Link your bank account for instant deposits (ACH transfers)
  • Link your existing, verified PayPal account to your PrizePicks account.
  • PrizePicks DOES NOT ACCEPT MasterCard or American Express for any transaction

To deposit onto PrizePicks, follow these steps:

  1. Open your cashier module within the app or desktop version
  2. Choose your payment method
  3. Input the relevant information (such as card number, security codes, online wallet account details, bank account info, etc.)
  4. If the information is correct and the funds are available in the account you’ve referenced, your PrizePicks account will reflect the new balance within a few seconds
  5. If your PayPal account is already linked to your bank account, you can go directly to the PayPal option and use that to fund your PrizePicks account.

How to withdraw funds

There is one main theme to keep in mind regarding cashouts from your PrizePicks account: You MUST use the exact same method and account number to send funds from your PrizePicks account to your bank or PayPal account.

There is a minimum $10 rule in effect for all withdrawals, and only one cashout can be in progress within a 24-hour cycle.

So if you used PayPal to deposit, you will need to use PayPal when processing a withdrawal; if you used your bank account to deposit, then you will need to send the funds to that same account.

Note that PrizePicks is NOT set up to facilitate chargebacks to credit cards. Basically, this means that you will need to withdraw to either your verified PayPal account or your linked bank account.

Once processed, requested funds will arrive in your bank or PayPal account between 2-3 business days.

Your very first withdrawal may take a few days longer if there is a KYC/AML or Source of Wealth check involved.

Extra fees for processing?

Generally speaking, PrizePicks does not charge any extra fees for transacting to and from your account.

Still, your financial institution may indeed tack on extra charges for deposits and withdrawals.

You will need to verify this personally with your financial institution (or card issuer) ahead of time to see if there are any hidden “cash advance” or other transaction fees.

Rating: Payment and Withdrawal Methods

8.0 out of 10 Stars

You’ll have more options than most DFS competitors in terms of online banking, but you will still be limited to withdrawing by using the exact same method that was used to deposit. Payouts arrive in 2-3 business days on average.

Security and safety

You will automatically be taken to a secure portal when transacting with PrizePicks – for both deposits and withdrawals.

PrizePicks uses encryption along with trusted platforms to ensure that your funds are safe and secure when inside your PrizePool account.

The minimum withdrawal amount is $10. If you leave less than $10 on your PrizePicks account and it is inactive for 365 days, the funds will be forfeited.

If the inactive amount is $10 or greater, you will be prompted to withdraw your remaining funds or reactivate your account before the 365-day window expires.

Formal regulatory licensing (US jurisdictions)

PrizePicks has acquired licenses to operate its Daily Fantasy Sports and Pick ‘em platforms in numerous United States jurisdictions.

Each state has its own procedure for authorizing real money wagering online, and you can contact the regulator directly by consulting publicly available information published by the state you reside in and play from.

Rating: Security and Safety

10 out of 10 Stars

The PrizePicks platform is safe and secure. It has been in operation for roughly 10 years.

Customer support at PrizePicks

Customer service (as far as live chat goes) may depend on which state and/or time zone you’re in while playing on the PrizePicks app.

While the site and app DO have live chat available, the response time may not be adequate if it’s not a big game day.

Fortunately, PrizePicks has a very large social media presence. This means that you can become a member of the app’s official pages on sites like Facebook and Instagram to get answers to commonly asked questions.

But you’ll still need to use the dedicated PrizePicks email for sending in your KYC/AML verification and Source of Wealth documents.

Once you request an initial withdrawal, PrizePicks may ask you to submit one or more of the following by sending a screenshot to their official email address.

  • A government-issued photo ID that is valid and shows your date of birth
  • A recent telephone, electricity, or water bill that shows your current address
  • Proof of employment or contractor status via a digital pay slip (invoices not allowed)

Keep in mind that some issues relating to fantasy points disputes and unforeseen occurrences (like weather delays) may trigger an above-average volume of customer support requests.

PrizePicks does a good job of explaining the procedures that are already in place for most fantasy-related topics (like pushes, posterior point adjustments, and last-minute decisions by real-life coaches or medics to bench a popular lineup player).

Still, you may need to wait a few hours for contests to settle if there’s a lot going on in terms of close contests, injury updates, or weather delays.

When this happens, you’ll likely have plenty of company on the PrizePicks social media sites.

There’s also a strong chance that a customer representative will provide an update to social media that you otherwise won’t be able to know about if you’re only trying to communicate through live chat or email.

Rating: Customer Support

9.0 out of 10 Stars

For the most part, you can get quick answers to questions that are routinely asked by customers. You’ll still have to be patient and wait for an official resolution in sporadic cases, though.

Where is PrizePicks legal and available?

PrizePicks is outright blocked in: Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Washington, Nevada, Maryland, and Idaho.

Real money “Pick ‘em” markets are available to customers 19+ in: Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Real money Pick ‘em Arena contests are available to players 18+ in: Alaska, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oregon, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Real money Pick ‘em Arena contests are available to players 19+ in Alabama.

Real money Pick ‘em Arena contests are available to players 21+ in: Arizona and Massachusetts.

The free-to-play “Streak” contests are open to players 19+ in: Connecticut, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

This list is subject to change. Make sure you have a Wi-Fi card that is active if you’re accessing from a PC or MAC. This way the geolocation tracking can accurately decipher whether you’re in a legal state.

PrizePicks vs. DraftKings and FanDuel: How does it compare?

PrizePicks is NOT a full-service online sportsbook; DraftKings and FanDuel ARE (at least in the states where they have a license to operate).

If you want a more laid-back, casual online prediction service in which the process of building lineups and browsing through odds is relatively simple, then you’ll thoroughly enjoy the PrizePicks Pick ‘em platform.

If, on the other hand, you’re seeking out a full-throttle online sportsbook that offers every type of wager that you’d expect at your favorite casino’s in-person sportsbook, choose DraftKings or FanDuel.

Overall, the odds and payouts may be slightly more favorable at an online sportsbook – unless you’re playing Same Game Parlays (SGPs).

PrizePicks is geared towards calculating wins and losses exclusively through the use of fantasy points.

PrizePicks tips and strategies for success

With PrizePicks, the main thing to keep in mind is that you can customize your odds as well as the overall experience – through DEMONS and GOBLINS.

That’s the key tip: customization.

If you’re in the mood for a high-risk, high-reward scenario that could see you taking home up to 200x your original wager, go for a few long shots by selecting multiple DEMONS within your lineup.

By contrast, you can greatly increase your odds by choosing to place multiple GOBLINS in your lineup. While the payout will correspondingly be lower, the target points will be more forgiving.

Of course, you can mix and match these two features – even within a single lineup. Or, if you choose, you can forego both DEMONS and GOBLINS and claim a 25x reward if you happen to get all 6 Picks of a Flex Play correct.

In the end, it’s up to you!

PrizePicks account sign-up and registration process

Consult the complete list of available states above to ensure you’re not in Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Idaho, Maryland, Washington, or Nevada. If you are in one of these states, you won’t be able to access PrizePicks at all.

To sign up for a new PrizePicks account, follow these steps:

  1. Click or tap on the PrizePicks links on this page
  2. Enter your email address (no promo code necessary)
  3. Search your Inbox and click on the verification link that PrizePicks sent
  4. Enter your pertinent info when you get back to the site/app
  5. Choose your screen name (must be unique and not in use at PrizePicks)
  6. Once your account has been set up, choose a payment option Visa, Discover, ACH transfer, or PayPal)
  7. To receive a 100% first deposit match bonus, you’ll need to deposit at least $10 (this would award you with $10 in bonus credits)
  8. The maximum bonus credits amount for your initial deposit is $100
  9. All bonus credits must be played through once within 30 days of receipt

If your Windows PC or MAC does not have an active Wi-Fi card, you won’t be able to play on PrizePicks.

PrizePicks community and forum features

PrizePicks has more than 300,000 followers on Instagram; on Twitter (X), it has close to 350,000 followers.

Its Facebook presence is quite a bit smaller (30,000 Followers), but still relevant for customers who choose to become a member on that platform.

It makes sense that the platform’s following is quite a bit less on Facebook since real names and family members are more closely associated with accounts.

The PrizePicks social media community is a great resource for feedback, especially when there’s an unforeseen issue that might take a few hours to resolve (weather delays and fantasy points adjustments come to mind).

You might also find occasional promotions for returning players that can only be accessed through social media.

If you’re a contributing member in good standing on one or more social media platforms, you might also be able to receive a small, extra bonus from time to time.

Become a part of the PrizePicks social media community if you wish to engage more with individuals who are fellow members.

As always, keep personal information and other important info secure by keeping it off the forums. Personally identifiable info should always be sent to the official, designated PrizePicks email address.

Final Verdict: Is PrizePicks the right choice for you?

PrizePicks is tailor-made for casual customers who are looking to customize their overall experience and participate in fantasy Pick ‘em Contests.

But it is NOT an online sportsbook, per-se.

If you want an online sportsbook, there are other options like DraftKings and FanDuel available.

However, if you’re looking for lineups that can be easily built and integrated into Pick ‘em contests that can award as much as 200x your original buy-in, you’ll want to give PrizePicks a shot.

Choose from Power Play or Flex Play Pick ‘ems – and adjust your odds by selecting DEMONS and/or GOBLINS as you wish.

Sign up now for a PrizePicks account, and you’ll receive a 100% match bonus – up to $100 – upon making your first deposit.
