Good news: We broke our three-day Best Bets losing skid Friday! Well, sort of. We went 1-for-2, which technically wasn’t a winning day … but it wasn’t a loser, either.

A new week brings new winning opportunities, and although Monday’s schedule is light —the NBA is idle before the play-in tournament starts Tuesday, and there’s just one game on the NHL docket — we’ve still found two solid Best Bets for your wagering pleasure.

Are you followin’ or fadin’? The choice, as always, is yours. With that, let’s dive into our Monday Best Bets!

The bet: Over 6.5 goals
The odds: -128
Where to bet: FanDuel
From: Matt Perrault via The Bostonian Vs. The Book podcast

As noted above, there’s only one game on the ice Monday, and Matt Perrault of The Bostonian Vs. The Book Podcast is predicting a long night for both goaltenders. Perrault is all-in on Montreal and Winnipeg going Over the 6.5 total.

His reasoning was succinct: “All three goaltenders for Winnipeg have a goals-against-average of 3.3 or higher. It’s a 5-2 win for somebody”

Podcast co-host Dave Sharapan didn’t even bother checking to see who was in net for both teams, backing the bet simply based on both teams’ struggles to keep pucks out of the net this season.

“The Canadiens have been so good to Over bettors,” Sharapan said. “I think it continues tonight [and that] Winnipeg [also] gives them up.”

Several trends certainly indicate that Perrault and Sharapan have something cooking here. For starters, Winnipeg has topped the total in five of its last six road games, including Sunday’s 4-3 win at Ottawa. So the Jets find themselves in a back-to-back situation, as well, which is noteworthy because they’ve gone Over in each of their last five back-to-backs.

Meanwhile, as Sharapan mentioned, Montreal has been involved in shootouts all season and enters this one on Over streaks of 13-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 at home. Finally, these teams cleared the total in nine of their last 12 series meetings. That includes an 8-4 Winnipeg home victory on March 1.

If you’re on board with Jets-Habs Over 6.5 goals, you can snatch -128 odds at FanDuel.
