Can Pittsburgh Pull Off a Road Win?

As they get ready to face the Raiders, the Steelers carry in a 1-1 record. Within the AFC-North, they are currently in 2nd place and are positioned 5th in the AFC overall. Against the spread, the Steelers have a record of 1-1. Their average scoring margin for the season is currently -9.5.

The Steelers came out on top in their previous game against the Browns, with the game ending in a score of 26-22. Going into the game, the Steelers were actually 2.5-point underdogs. This resulted in an ATS win for the Steelers. The over/under line for the game was 38.5 points, and the combined total points scored went over, reaching 48 points.

Pittsburgh’s offense produced a total of 255 yards against the Browns. When it came to third downs, the Steelers had a conversion rate of 28.6%. The leading rusher for the Steelers was Najee Harris with 43 yards, and Kenny Pickett contributed 222 passing yards.

The Steelers’ defense takes on the Raiders having given up an average of 26 points per game. So far, they are 3rd in quarterback hits and are giving up 399.5 yards per contest.

Can the Raiders Offense Score Enough at Home?

Looking at the AFC-West standings, the Raiders are in 1st place on a record of 1-1. In the AFC, Las Vegas is in 4th place heading into week 3. Taking a look at the Raiders’ scoring margin this season, it is currently at -13.5. This has resulted in an ATS record of 1-1.

Taking a look at their last game, the Raiders suffered a 38-10 loss to the Bills. Alongside their 28-point loss, the Raiders also suffered an ATS defeat. They were 7.5-point underdogs before the game. Going into the game, the over/under line was 47 points with Buffalo, the team’s performance exceeded the over/under line of 48.

Las Vegas’ offense finished with 240 yards of total offense vs. the Bills. On third down, the Raiders converted at a rate of 42.9%. Tre Tucker was the Raiders’ top rusher with 34 yards while Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 185 yards.

In terms of yards allowed, the Raiders are 23rd in the league while giving up 355.0 yards per contest. Las Vegas’ defense has allowed 27 points per game, placing them 17th in the NFL.

Raiders vs. Steelers Player Prop

Josh Jacobs led the NFL in rushing last year, but it has been tough sledding in 2023. The star running back only has 28 carries for 46 rushing yards through the first two games, which comes out to an uninspiring 1.6 yards per carry. However, there’s some room for optimism this time around, as the Raiders will host a Pittsburgh defense that has allowed the most rushing yards at 333 in the first two weeks. Look for Jacobs to be involved early and often while getting back on track in this promising draw.

The Prop: Josh Jacobs Over 71.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

Raiders VS. Steelers Predictions

There has been a shift in the point-spread lines since they opened. To open, the Steelers were favored by 1.5. However, the Raiders are now favored by 2.5 at home.

I’m going with Las Vegas on the spread at -2.5. I anticipate Las Vegas’ rushing attack capitalizing on the weaknesses in Pittsburgh’s rush defense, as seen in their recent game. Also, this is a tough draw for Pittsburgh, which is traveling across the country after a hard-fought game on a shortened week.

As bad as the Raiders looked last week in a blowout loss at the Buffalo Bills, they are primed for a bounce back in their home opener on Sunday Night Football. Don’t miss out on Las Vegas at -2.5.
