Celtics vs. 76ers Predictions

The big news heading into Game 1 is the status of Philadelphia big man Joel Embiid, who is listed as doubtful.

Because of that, we have a larger-than-expected spread with the Celtics favored by 10 at home.

The Celtics won the season series 3-1 while winning both home meetings as well.

However, the 76ers haven’t been terrible without Embiid this season, posting an 11-5 record without their star player in the regular season. Philadelphia also beat Brooklyn in Game 4 of the first round without Embiid, outlasting the Nets by a score of 96-88.

Center Paul Reed filled in admirably for the 76ers with 10 points and 15 rebounds across 32 minutes. He’ll need to put forth another solid performance on Monday night if Philadelphia wants to keep this contest close.

Boston had trouble rebounding at times against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, so getting Reed and his teammates to crash the boards will be a key to this Game 1 matchup.

Look for Philadelphia to make things interesting and cover the exaggerated 10-point spread.
