Thursday Night Football Props: Week 14

Here’s a trio of Steelers vs. Patriots player props I like for Thursday’s primetime matchup:

Jaylen Warren Over 17.5 Receiving Yards (-114)

Jaylen Warren might have a featured role this week after Najee Harris missed practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. Even if Harris isn’t inactive, the Steelers might shift more work onto Warren’s plate.

According to Pro-Football-Reference, Warren is averaging 20.3 receiving yards per game, with a median of 17.5 this season. Per Pro Football Focus (PFF), Warren has run 24 routes versus 28 for Harris since Matt Canada was fired. Soaking up even a few more routes would be outstanding for Warren’s receiving upside.

The matchup is decent, too. According to The 33rd Team, the Patriots have allowed six running backs to exceed 17.5 receiving yards this season. They’ve also allowed four more backfields to combine for over 17.5 receiving yards. If Harris is ruled out or suffers an in-game setback with the knee injury sidelining him at practices this week, Warren could have almost the entire backfield’s workload.

Diontae Johnson Over 4.5 Receptions (+125)

Diontae Johnson was the apple of Mitch Trubisky’s eye last year. In five games when Trubisky attempted over 20 passes in 2022, Johnson had commanding leads over the second-ranked player on the Steelers in targets (50 versus 26), receptions (37 versus 14), and receiving yards (376 versus 196).

Johnson averaged 7.4 receptions per game in that five-game sample and had a median of seven. Additionally, Johnson had six receptions against the Patriots last year when Trubisky was the starting quarterback.

Diontae Johnson Over 41.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Johnson was also a yardage hog when Trubisky attempted 20-plus passes last season. Johnson averaged 75.2 receiving yards per game in that five-game sample, with a median of 82.

Johnson had 57 yards against the Patriots last season. He’s also averaged 52.3 receiving yards per game, with a median of 49 in eight games this year. Finally, 19 wide receivers had over 41.5 receiving yards against the Patriots this season. Thus, doubling up on Johnson’s receiving props is exciting in this game.
