Final Four Predictions: UConn vs. Miami Picks
Let’s state the obvious: both of these teams are hot. That checks out, otherwise neither squad would be in this position. Miami continues to defy the odds with wins over Indiana, Houston, and Texas. If you recall, the Hurricanes needed a second-half rally to beat Drake in the First Round. Miami didn’t take that narrow victory for granted, as they have been playing lights out since that opening win.
On the other hand, you could argue that UConn has looked like the best team in the nation through the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies have won every game by at least 15 points, which includes big wins against quality opponents like St. Mary’s, Arkansas, and Gonzaga. So that presents the question: can UConn be stopped?
Miami has outplayed its rankings on paper, but this is a really tough matchup for the Hurricanes. UConn ranks 11th in defense, third in offense, and second in rebound rate. Miami is 104th in defense, fifth in offense, and 63rd in rebound rate. It really feels like the Huskies will control the glass and paint in this game, and it will be challenging for the Hurricanes to keep up. Miami will need to sink three-pointers at a high rate to stay competitive, but UConn ranks 13th in the nation for three-point defense.
This should be another double-digit victory for UConn.
