At Props.com, we have big plans on changing the way bettors view individual props (hence the name of the site), in terms of finding new and creative angles of game analysis and player projections.
This is especially true with college football, which offers limitless gaming opportunities in the coming months.
Which brings us to this: In advance of Props.com’s substantial launch this week, we wanted to arbitrarily present a cluster of Individual Player Props for the 2021 season, featuring seven preseason stars (in alphabetical order):
Iowa State RB Breece Hall
North Carolina QB Sam Howell
Alabama WR John Metchie III
Ohio State WR Chris Olave
Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler
Texas A&M RB Isaiah Spiller
Liberty QB Malik Willis
Check back with us in January to see how we did with this prop projection of …
OKLAHOMA QB SPENCER RATTLER — OVER 40 TOTAL TOUCHDOWNS
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
1) As a redshirt freshman in 2020, Rattler notched 34 touchdowns (28 passing, 6 rushing) in 11 games, including four scores in Oklahoma’s Sugar Bowl rout of Florida.
2) The highly proficient Rattler posted a completion rate of 60 percent or higher in nine of 11 starts last season. He also attempted 30 or more passes five times in Year 1 as OU’s starter.
3) Rattler figures to improve upon last year’s numbers, given the (presumptive) extra comfort with head coach Lincoln Riley’s offense … and given the Sooners return a large complement of playmakers, including wideouts Marvin Mims, Theo Wease and Jadon Haselwood, and tight end Austin Stogner.
Throw in the additions of five-star freshman wide receiver Mario Williams, former Arkansas wideout Mike Woods and Tennessee transfer tackle Wanya Morris (potential first-rounder in next year’s NFL draft), and Oklahoma should be a lock to eclipse last year’s average of 43 points per game (No. 6 nationally).
4) During his three years as Oklahoma’s starting quarterback (2015-17), former Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield eclipsed the 40-touchdown mark each season. And in 2019, Mayfield’s successor, Jalen Hurts, rolled for 53 total touchdowns (21 rushing) for the Sooners.
5) Rattler accumulated his 34 TDs last season in 10 regular-season games against Big 12 opponents, plus the bowl game vs. Florida. This year, he gets the opportunity to shred the likes of Western Carolina and Tulane, in addition to 10 conference games against mostly porous Big 12 secondaries, plus (perhaps) multiple postseason contests.
