The Monday college basketball odds board just got more interesting, now that No. 3 Baylor has skyrocketed seven slots in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.

On Saturday night, the defending national champ flourished against then-No. 5 Kansas, upending the current Big 12 leader in Waco. But now, 48 hours later, Baylor has a sizable target on its back for tonight’s road showdown with No. 21 Texas. Can the Bears avoid a letdown on short rest?

Props.com previews the Monday college basketball betting odds for Baylor-Texas, along with the night’s biggest clash of NCAA Tournament-worthy teams from outside the power conferences: San Diego State-Wyoming from the Mountain West.

About Baylor: The Bears are on a 5-1 SU run (3-2-1 ATS), including Saturday’s 80-70 takedown of Kansas as a 2.5-point home favorite. Among Big 12 programs, Baylor ranks first in steals (9.0 per game), first in assists (16.2 per contest), and first in scoring margin (13.9 points per outing, eighth nationally).

About Texas: The Longhorns are 5-2 SU in their last seven, but just 3-4 ATS in that span, failing to cash in their last three games. On Saturday, Texas topped West Virginia 82-81 but fell short as a 3.5-point road chalk. Texas leads the Big 12 in scoring defense (58.8 ppg, fifth nationally).

What’s At Stake: Baylor (12-4) trails Kansas (12-3) by a half-game in the Big 12 standings. Even with Saturday’s victory over KU. With both teams rated in the top 15 of the NCAA’s NET rankings, Baylor (fifth) and Texas (15th) are locks for the NCAA Tournament. The Bears might even be positioned for a No. 1 seed.

Tipoff/TV: 9 p.m. ET/CBS Sports Network
San Diego State: 18-7 SU (10-4 Mountain West)/14-11 ATS
Wyoming: 23-5 SU (12-3 Mountain West)/16-9-2 ATS
Spread/Total: SDSU -1.5/130.5
Last meeting: San Diego State edged Wyoming 69-66 but failed to cover as a 15.5-point favorite in the Mountain West Conference tournament quarterfinals (March 11, 2021)
Did you know: The Aztecs have won seven straight meetings, with an average victory margin of 22.3 points in the last six regular-season matchups. Going back to the 2009-10 season, SDSU is 19-2 SU/15-5-1 ATS against the Cowboys

About SDSU-Wyoming: With three league games remaining, Wyoming (12-3) has an outside shot at catching Boise State (14-2) for the Mountain West title. The Cowboys have won eight of their last 10 games, including Saturday’s 74-61 victory over Nevada, easily covering as 7-point home favorites. San Diego State has caught fire of late, winning six of seven outings. On Friday, the Aztecs routed San Jose State 77-52, cashing as hefty 21-point home faves. Thirteen of San Diego State’s last 15 victories have been double-digit blowouts. Boise State (29th), San Diego State (30th), and Wyoming (39th) are all inside the top 40 of the NCAA’s NET rankings, suggesting all would be worthy at-large candidates for the NCAA Tournament — short of any major upsets in next week’s Mountain West tournament.
