Props.com breaks down Tuesday college basketball odds for Kansas-Iowa State, Alabama-Auburn, and Texas-Texas Tech. The latter features an interesting subplot, as first-year Longhorns coach Chris Beard returns to Lubbock, Texas, where he led the Red Raiders to two Elite Eight and one national championship game appearance in five seasons.

Tuesday’s college basketball odds are via PointsBet USA and updated as of 2 p.m. ET on Feb. 1.

Tipoff/TV: 7 p.m. ET/ESPN
Kansas:
17-3 SU (6-1 Big 12)/8-11-1 ATS
Iowa State:
16-5 SU (3-5 Big 12)/13-8 ATS
Spread/Total:
Kansas -2.5/136
Last meeting:
Kansas edged Iowa State 62-61 but never threatened to cover as a 13.5-point home favorite (Jan. 11)

About Kansas: The Jayhawks have won five of their last six games, but are just 1-5 ATS during the same stretch. On Saturday, Kansas suffered a rare blowout home loss, falling 80-62 to Kentucky. KU leads the Big 12 in scoring offense (80.5 ppg, 16th nationally) and field-goal shooting (48.9%), and ranks second in assists (16.2 per game) and 3-point shooting (36.4%). The Jayhawks have surrendered at least 74 points in all three of their losses (Dayton, Texas Tech and Kentucky).

About Iowa State: The Cyclones have rebounded from a 1-4 slump (2-3 ATS) with back-to-back wins and spread-covers over Oklahoma State (84-81 in overtime as a 3-point road underdog) and Missouri (67-50 as an 11-point home chalk). Along with Texas, Texas Tech, and Baylor, Iowa State ranks in the top 20 nationally scoring defense (60.5 ppg, 18th nationally). Not including the overtime game at Oklahoma State, the Cyclones have held five straight opponents to 72 points or less.

What’s At Stake: Kansas is percentage points ahead of Baylor in the Big 12 standings and would take over sole possession of first place with a win Tuesday in Ames. On Saturday, the Jayhawks will host No. 4 Baylor (7-2 league mark). Iowa State is tied for sixth but still in decent shape for making the NCAA Tournament, as it sits 25th in the NCAA’s NET rankings.

Players To Watch

Kansas guard Christian Braun is shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 81.4 percent from the free-throw line, and he’s scored in double figures in 18 of 20 games this season. A transfer from Penn State, guard Izaiah Brockington leads Iowa State in scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 per game). The 6-foot-4 senior has notched seven double-doubles in 21 games, and he’s tallied at least 20 points seven times.
