What’s cooler than being cool? If you answered “ice cold!“, then you are correct. We also would have also accepted “Monday’s Best Bets” as an answer.
It was bound to happen eventually, but our Monday selections went 0-for-3 Monday.
How will the Props (and BetPrep) crew respond Tuesday? First off, they won’t pick against LeBron James returning to Cleveland. That was the first mistake Monday night.
Secondly, they’ll respond by having a short memory and coming out firing with four Tuesday best bets: One NHL total, an NHL prop, and two NBA props.
Love, hate, fade, or follow — here are Tuesday’s Best Bets!
Best Bets Track Record
Monday: 0-3
Year-To-Date: 23-22-1
Bostonian vs. The Book: 7-7-1
BetPrep Prop of the Day: 6-9
NBA Props: 7-4
NHL Props: 3-2
NHL Total: Pittsburgh Penguins Vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
The bet: Penguins-Jackets Over 6.5 total goals
The odds: –120
Where to bet: Caesars Sportsbook
From: Matt Perrault via The Bostonian Vs. The Book Podcast
Matt Perrault, host of The Bostonian Vs. The Book Podcast, saw the hometown legs of his three-team parlay come through Monday: The Celtics routed the Thunder, and the Bruins edged the Canadiens in overtime. But the Cavaliers moneyline over LeBron and the Lakers failed him, thus blowing up the parlay.
For Tuesday, Perrault is getting back to his bread and butter: NHL totals. Specifically, he’s locked in the Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets Over 6.5 total goals for Tuesday’s Best Bet.
“The Jackets give up 3.7 goals per game and score 3.3 goals per game,” Perrault said. “We need an average game for Columbus” to cash this bet.
Per usual, co-host Dave Sharapan backed his partner’s play, citing the Blue Jackets’ consistency to get into high-scoring battles.
“I’m betting it,” Sharapan said. “Columbus is just a staple. We are going to keep betting Over, maybe, the rest of the way on [Columbus] games.”
Some stats to back up those opinions: The Blue Jackets have gone Over the total in seven of their last 10 games. Furthermore, the Penguins have skewed to the Over in six of their last 10.
Looking to ride with The Bostonian Vs. The Book duo? You can find Pittsburgh-Columbus Over 6.5 at -120 at Caesars Sportsbook.
Perrault listed three other bets he likes during Tuesday’s Bostonian vs. The Book podcast — one more NHL total and two NBA totals. You can listen to the replay on Youtube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.
NBA Prop: Milwaukee Bucks – PG Jrue Holiday
The bet: Over 18.5 points (vs. Chicago)
The odds: –110
Where to bet: DraftKings Sportsbook
From: Matt LaMarca via Tuesday NBA Props
The Bucks have been on a roll recently, winning eight of their past 10 games, but they did hit a speed bump in their last outing. Not only did they lose to the red-hot Timberwolves, but second-leading scorer Khris Middleton injured his wrist and has been ruled out for Tuesday’s contest against the Bulls.
With Middleton out, expect Holiday to take on a much larger role with the Bucks on offense. He’s seen a team-high plu-5.4 percent usage-rate bump with Middleton off the court this season, resulting in an average of 23.6 points per 36 minutes. Holiday is also averaged 19.2 points in nine full games without Middleton.
When looking at the eight teams on the NBA hardwood Tuesday, the Bucks have the highest projected team total at 120.5 points. So this seems like the perfect spot to roll with Uncle Jrue.

NHL Prop: Nashville Predators – D Roman Josi
The bet: Over 0.5 Assists (at Los Angeles)
The odds: –144
Where to bet: FanDuel Sportsbook
From: Dan Bradley via Tuesday NHL Props
This is one of the top NHL props of the night — because there’s no hotter player in the league right now than Roman Josi.
The 31-year-old Swiss blueliner leads all defensemen with 77 points this season, which remarkably ranks sixth among all skaters. Here’s how great of a campaign Josi is having: Only two defensemen in the last 30 years have broken 90 points in a season. He’s on pace to pass 100! Furthermore, Josi also leads all defensemen in shots on goal in 2021-22.
Josi enters Tuesday riding a 10-game point streak, with 24 (four goals, 20 assists) in that span. Now he gets to take aim at an injury-decimated Kings club. L.A. is missing four of its top six defensemen (Drew Doughy, Sean Walker, Tobias Björnfot, and Matt Roy are all out).
Josi has picked up an assist in 35 of his 61 games, including 19 of 31 on the road. He’s also notched three assists in two games against the Kings this season (one helper on Oct. 19 at home; two on Jan. 6 in L.A.). That gives him 16 assists in 26 career games against the Kings.
Looking to invest a little more coin in Josi on Tuesday? He’s around +310 to score an anytime goal. With the way he’s rolling — and as much as the Kings are banged up defensively — it’s not a bad investment at all.

NBA Prop: Orlando Magic – C Wendell Carter Jr.
The bet: Over 9.5 rebounds (vs. Golden State)
The odds: -131
Where to bet: PointsBet USA
From: BetPrep Prop of the Day via BetPrep.com
The BetPrep crew missed on Monday’s Prop of the Day, as DeMar DeRozan had just one assists against the Raptors, falling way short of his 4.5-assist prop. They’ll look to get back on track by taking Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. Over 9.5 rebounds against the Warriors:
Here’s the rationale behind this BetPrep Best Bet:
- Carter has recorded double-digit rebounds in 10 of his last 12 games, averaging 11.7 boards in that stretch
- In his last nine home games, Carter has corralled 10-plus rebounds eight times
- Golden State allows 10.2 defensive rebounds per game to centers, which ranks in the bottom 10 in the league
Still not convinced? Maybe this will do the trick: Carter posted 12 rebounds in his only meeting with the Warriors this season (Dec. 6).
You can find Carter Over 9.5 assists (-131) at PointsBet USA.
