Texas vs. TCU Predictions

Texas (13-2, 2-1 Big 12) fired head coach Chris Beard last week after he received a third-degree felony for domestic violence. Rodney Terry is the interim head coach, and he led the Longhorns to a 56-46 road victory at Oklahoma State last Saturday. Texas is a balanced squad that ranks 14th in adjusted offense and 20th in adjusted defense according to KenPom.com. The Longhorns are 9-1 at home this season, as their only loss came against No. 11 Kansas State on Jan. 3. This will be Texas’ first home game since that loss.

TCU (13-2, 2-1 Big 12) dropped its last contest on Saturday against Iowa State, a team that is now ranked No. 14 in the latest AP poll. The Horned Frogs play quality defense (ranked 25th in adjusted defense) while crashing the boards with aggression — ranked 19th in offensive rebound rate. TCU will want to slow this game down and keep the crowd at bay as the road underdog.

Even though Texas is the superior team here, the Horned Frogs should find some success with that strategy. That makes TCU +6.5 an interesting play, but the savvy wager revolves around the total — taking under 145.5 total points with two defensive-minded teams squaring off.
