The New York Rangers haven’t won a playoff series since 2017. If the Rangers can’t figure out how to prevent the Pittsburgh Penguins from firing pucks into their net, that dubious streak will live on for at least another year.
After surrendering seven goals in a pair of its two losses in Pittsburgh, New York has its proverbial back against the wall entering Game 5 at home Wednesday. Bookmakers like the Rangers’ chances to survive for at least one more game, with New York a home favorite on the NHL playoff odds board.
Should the Penguins prevail, they’ll become the second team to earn a berth in the second round, joining the Colorado Avalanche, who swept out the Nashville Predators. The six other best-of-7 series are targeted for at least six games. That includes Capitals vs. Panthers and Stars vs. Flames, whose battles resume Wednesday night.
Props.com breaks down NHL playoff odds and action for each of Wednesday’s trio of Game 5s.
