Betting stats: The Mets are the most profitable team in baseball at +9.2 units for the season. Despite their sparkling record, the Dodgers are up only 1.63 units (13th in MLB) because of the steep prices bettors have to pay to bet L.A.

Pitching matchup: RHP Chris Bassitt (4-2, 3.66 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) vs LHP Tyler Anderson (6-0, 2.90 ERA, 1.01 WHIP)

Season series: The Dodgers lead 1-0 after a 2-0 victory Thursday.

Did you know: The Dodgers are 26-8 against the Mets over the past six years, though they didn’t play each other during the 2020 COVID-shortened season. But Los Angeles has been better on the road (13-2) than at home (13-6).

About the Mets

Hits & Misses: The Mets were the last team to be shut out this season, finally succumbing in the 2-0 defeat to Los Angeles on Thursday in the opener of a 10-game road trip. New York was coming off a 6-0 homestand against Philadelphia and Washington. The Mets, who have lost consecutive games just twice all season, already own a 9.5-game lead in the NL East over defending World Series champion Atlanta. New York has the third-best record in baseball after the New York Yankees and Dodgers, backed up by the third-best run differential (+75). (The Dodgers are +114, and the Yankees are +85). The Over is 8-2 in the Mets’ last 10, and they are 27-23-3 to the Over for the season.

Bassitt vs Dodgers: The right-hander is off to a solid start after being traded from Oakland after six seasons. Bassitt has allowed one run or fewer in six of his 10 starts, and 13 of the 24 earned runs he has allowed came in two outings against San Francisco. After giving up eight runs to the Giants in his worst start of the season May 24, Bassitt responded by yielding just only one run on two hits in six innings in a New York win over Philadelphia on Sunday. The Mets are 7-3 behind Bassitt this season (3-1 on the road). In his only appearance against the Dodgers, Bassitt allowed four runs in six innings last season.

Key injuries: SS Francisco Lindor missed Thursday’s game after he closed a hotel room door on his right middle finger, causing it to swell. He said he hopes to play Friday.

About the Dodgers

Hits & Misses: Los Angeles shook off a mystifying home sweep at the hands of Pittsburgh to take the opener from the Mets. The Dodgers have a four-game lead over San Diego in the NL West and appear to be cruising toward their 10th straight playoff appearance, having advanced to at least the NL Championship Series in four of the past five seasons. L.A. leads the majors in team OPS (.766) at the plate and team ERA (2.81) on the mound. The Dodgers are 5-2 to the Under in its past seven games and 25-22-4 to the Under for the season.

Anderson vs Mets: The left-hander is putting together the best season of his career in his first year with the Dodgers. Anderson has a 2.90 ERA so far, and the only other time he broke 4.00 came in his rookie season with Colorado in 2016 (3.54). He enters Friday’s outing on a 20-inning scoreless streak dating to the first inning of a start against Arizona on May 17, and he has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his nine starts, with a sparkling 48-6 K/BB ratio. Anderson is 1-0 with a 3.31 ERA in three career starts against the Mets, including a 6-2 victory in New York exactly 51 weeks ago.

Key injuries: OF Kevin Pillar suffered a left shoulder fracture on Wednesday against the Pirates and went on the 10-day injured list. He could miss a significant amount of time. … 1B Max Muncy (elbow) is scheduled to start a rehab assignment this weekend at Triple-A Oklahoma City. … SP Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) is progressing and is scheduled to make a rehab outing Sunday at Class A Rancho Cucamonga.
