The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, an annual Fourth of July staple, is set to witness another likely triumph by reigning champion Joey Chestnut. The gastronomic gladiator is the overwhelming favorite with -5000 odds to secure his eighth consecutive win at the event. The real competition seems to be between Geoffrey Esper, with +1100 odds, and Darron Breeden, close behind at +1600 odds.

Also, viewers will tune in to see whether or not Chestnut can make a run at the world record, which stands at 76 — set by Chesnut.

Hot Dog Contest Props 2023

Chestnut’s dominance at this event is unparalleled; he has savored victory 15 times in the past 16 years. While Chestnut’s victory appears almost certain, what adds a tang of suspense to the event are the prop bets centered around him.

Joey Chestnut Over/Under 73.5 Hot Dogs Eaten

The betting lines have set Chestnut’s prop at over/under 73.5 hot dogs, which is below the record of 76.

According to BetMGM, despite Chestnut’s record, 53% of the bets and 67% of the money are leaning towards under 73.5 hot dogs eaten at -120 odds.

Chestnut Odds Boost At FanDuel Sportsbook

If you are looking to bet the over on Chestnut’s hot dog prop, then FanDuel Sportsbook is the best place to do it. They have an odds boost for this event:

The number and odds are much better than what’s provided at other sportsbooks, which is around 73.5 hot dogs with -110 odds to the over.

Plus, FanDuel has a great new offer where you can 10x your first bet: Bet $20, Get $200.

Joey Chestnut To Set New World Record

The question of Chestnut breaking his own world record adds another layer of excitement.

The odds stand at +175 for a ‘yes’ and -260 for a ‘no’. Considering Chestnut’s past feats of breaking the world record, it’s a bet many are willing to take.

Last year, a protestor’s interruption saw Chestnut’s performance dip to a six-year low, with him devouring “only” 62 hot dogs. However, his impressive tally of 75 and 76 in the preceding years has many believing he can go for the record in 2023.

Incidentally, security measures at the contest are expected to be tighter this year, reducing the likelihood of another protestor-induced disruption.

Miki Sudo Over/Under 43.5 Hot Dogs Eaten

Also, women’s division competitor Miki Sudo’s over/under is set at 43.5 hot dogs eaten, and while the bets are split evenly, a staggering 90% of the money is betting on the under.

Sudo is just as much a favorite in the women’s division as Chestnut is for the men’s. Sudo has -5000 odds to reign supreme as the women’s winner in 2023.
