Notre Dame vs. North Carolina Predictions

When will the Tar Heels realize their full potential? It felt like they were rounding a corner in late December and early January. However, UNC has dropped five of its last six games, most recently falling 77-69 on the road to rival NC State on Sunday. After the loss, several pundits deemed that North Carolina would be left out of the NCAA Tournament if it started today. So the Tar Heels need to avoid bad losses while beefing up their resume if they want another shot at the Final Four.

Notre Dame is one of the bottom teams in the ACC while holding a 2-14 conference record. North Carolina won the first contest between these teams by a score of 81-64 on Jan. 7. However, the Irish have been much more competitive as of late, losing by four at Duke and two at Virginia despite stepping in as double-digit underdogs. While that’s impressive, its easy to see Notre Dame taking a step back on Wednesday. North Carolina is playing with urgency, and the Tar Heels are one of the best rebounding teams in the nation. Meanwhile, the Irish rank 311th in rebound rate. Thus, UNC should control this game and pick up a bounce-back victory going away.
