What Are MLB Player Props?

In short, MLB player props are wagers on aspects of a player’s performance in a given game or season. For example, you could bet on whether a certain player will go over/under a certain stat in a game. When looking at MLB player props, this could be hits, home runs, total bases, or strikeouts for pitchers. This article will look at the best MLB player props for games played on Tuesday, June 14.

MLB Strikeout Props Notes

Tony Gonsolin (P – LAD) Under 5.5 K: This prop checks in at solid value with plus-money. Gonsolin has gone Under 5.5 strikeouts in 8 of his last 11 starts. He has not pitched beyond six innings this season either.

Logan Gilbert (P – SEA) Under 5.5 K: This is another line that pops thanks to plus-money on the Under. Gilbert is facing a Minnesota team that ranks middle-of-the-pack in strikeout rate, and they have chased several quality starters off the mound early in the last week (ask G. Cole and N. Cortes). Gilbert hasn’t topped 5.5 K in 3 of his last 4 starts.

Zach Eflin (P – PHI) Under 5.5 K: This one comes with some juice, but Eflin has gone Under 5.5 K in 8-of-10 starts this season. He averages 5.2 innings per start with only a 7.53 K/9 rate. That translates to a baseline of 4.6 strikeouts per contest, which creates value to the Under.

Logan Webb (P – SF) Over 4.5 K: Webb has racked up 5-plus strikeouts in 4 of his last 5 games. He’s a durable tosser who almost always flirts with 100 pitches. That will give him plenty of chances to find a handful of strikeouts.

Chris Bassitt (P – NYM) Over 5.5 K: His opponent, Milwaukee, is neutral in strikeout rate. However, Bassitt has cleared this mark in 9 of his last 12 starts, including 6 K’s in just 3.1 innings last time out. He should get to at least six strikeouts with a full workload on Tuesday.

Top HR Props Notes

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B – TOR): Do you really need an excuse to take Vlad Jr? Well, here’s one: Baltimore RHP Jordan Lyles held an inflated 1.90 HR/9 rate across 130 innings last season.

Ryan Mountcastle (1B – BAL): This game could feature plenty of round-trippers from both sides. Toronto LHP Yusei Kikuchi has had problems recently, and he coughed up three homers in a game earlier this month vs. Minnesota. Mountcastle has capable power with three homers in 11 games this month.

Paul Goldschmidt (1B – STL): Goldschmidt has it all: reliability, hotstreak, matchup, etc. Fresh off a homer yesterday, Goldy now turns his attention to Pittsburgh RHP JT Brubaker, who has a generous 1.64 HR/9 in his career.

Bo Bichette (SS – TOR): Bichette is seeing the ball extremely well with two hits in 5 of his last 6 games. He failed to come through for us as a top HR prop on Monday, but the Toronto infielder is in another fine spot on Tuesday.

Ji-Man Choi (1B – TB): Here’s your batter vs pitcher special. Choi is 8-16 with three homers lifetime off Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole. In his last start, Cole gave up 5 HR at Minnesota. Yankee Stadium’s short right-field porch could help Choi as well.
