This angle of the NFL Player Props series will take a look at whether or not Aaron Rodgers will throw an interception in Week 6.
The Green Bay QB finds himself in a rivalry game this week when he takes on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday afternoon in what seems to be his 1000th matchup vs their nemesis to the south.
I do think that this could be the last matchup on the road for Rodgers in a Packers uniform, and I think that no one cares about this more than Bears fans just wishing this guy out of their life for the last 15 years.
NFL Player Prop Trends
This season, the Packers started out slow against the Saints, but they’ve stormed back to take over the NFC North, despite giving away like seven chances to win against the Bengals last week. I expect the Packers to continue to look like one of the best NFC teams out there, regardless of division.
Rodgers has started five games this year, and he has only thrown an interception in 2 of them. Based on the current odds of Rodgers to throw an interception, that suggests that the under would be the play. Obviously, that sample size is not one we want to draw on, but it does suggest that Rodgers is kind of split in the interception props this season.
Matchup At Chicago
Rodgers now takes on a Bears defense that has been great since a bit of a dud in Los Angeles in Week 1, and that is what has me leaning towards the over, given the matchup.
The Bears’ secondary is nothing to write home about, but their defensive line appears rejuvenated after a bit of a dull 2020 season, and I think that they will get pressure one way of another. When trying to predict interceptions, the pressure would be the most important defensive factor because the pressure often leads to ill-advised throws and plays overall.
Interception Prop Prediction
I expect the Bears to get pressure and eventually get an interception in this spot, especially since we are seeing Robert Tonyan and the WR group outside of Adam’s struggle to meet last years’ standard. This will be impacted by the game script a bit, but the Packers will trust Aaron to throw the ball even with a lead late in the game.
