Buffalo vs. Central Michigan Predictions

As mentioned in the introduction, Buffalo is contending to represent the East division in the MAC Championship. Central Michigan has had a tough time this season with a 3-6 record that includes a subpar 2-3 mark in the conference. However, the Chippewas are favored in this matchup. So what gives?

First, we need to consider that CMU may have turned a corner last week. Central Michigan beat Northern Illinois 34-22 as 4.5-point road underdogs last Wednesday. Even better, star RB Lew Nichols returned from an injury to gain 98 rushing yards on 28 carries. His presence helps stabilize CMU’s offense.

This game will be decided in the trenches, and Central Michigan has the edge in that department. CMU’s rush defense ranks 36th in the country while allowing just 3.7 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Buffalo is giving up 5.0 yards per carry, which ranks 116th in the nation.

Expect Central Michigan to run the ball, control the game, and ultimately pull out the victory.
