One game I have circled for Sunday already is the Cardinals-Jaguars game. Through two games, few secondaries have struggled more than Jacksonville when it comes to letting up big plays through the air.
Now we get an explosive Arizona offense, with Kyler Murray comfortably in the early MVP conversation.
The Cardinals are 2-0, have scored over 30 points in both games, and Murray has accounted for 9 touchdowns already. With a deep group of pass-catchers, this game is one I recommend targeting for both player props and daily fantasy.
Jacksonville’s Defensive Struggles
In Week 1, Houston receiver Brandin Cooks put up a big game, finishing with 132 yards on 5 catches, with a long reception of 52 yards.
This past Sunday, Denver’s Courtland Sutton was the receiver to finish with mammoth numbers, hauling n 9 balls for 159 yards, with a long reception of 55 yards.
The Jaguars’ corners are consistently getting beaten deep, and there’s every reason to believe they will have a difficult time slowing down this Cardinals passing attack.
Arizona Props To Consider
The Cardinals have had their fair share of big plays in the two weeks of this NFL season.
Somewhat astoundingly, of the six players on the team to record a reception, all six have had a reception go for 29 yards or more.
Considering the propensity to which Jacksonville allows big plays, betting Kyler Murray’s longest completion prop, or one of the receivers to haul in the reception of 20+ yards, is a very wise move.
Murray’s line for long completion should be near 40 yards, but it’s still a strong bet to make. I find that I typically end up picking the wrong receiver when targeting one of them to break off a big play.
While receivers over/under for longest play are lower, there are more of them, so I defer to your preference here.
If you do want to bet one of the Cardinals wide-outs to have a big game, you have three solid options: DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk, and Rondale Moore.
Their 2021 stats through two games:
Player | Targets | Receptions | Yards | TDs | Longest Reception |
Rondale Moore | 13 | 11 | 182 | 1 | 77 |
DeAndre Hopkins | 12 | 10 | 137 | 3 | 38 |
Christian Kirk | 9 | 8 | 135 | 2 | 25 |
Moore was the star last week and very well might have the lowest line of the three Cardinals receivers. Considering he leads the team in targets, receptions, yards, and longest reception, he is my preferred target against this weak Jaguars defense.
The best bet does not have to be the longest completion. It can be built around yards, receptions, or to score a touchdown. This is a game you need to build into your Sunday betting. It offers the biggest disparity between units.
