Just how mainstream has sports betting become in recent years? Every time you flip on the TV, change a radio station, click on a website, or check social media, somebody somewhere is giving unsolicited wagering advice.

Well, now it’s our turn — but with a twist.

Beginning with our Tuesday best bets, the Props.com content team will offer up our favorite plays of the day, be it on the point spread, Over/Under, or prop selections. And we’ll present it all in an easy-to-find, easy-to-read aggregated package.

Looking for our top NHL and NBA prop bets of the day? Our favorite college basketball wager from the day’s marquee games? The top picks from our Bostonian vs. The Book crew? You’ll find all of it right here.

The big difference between us and a lot of the “experts” who fire betting opinions at you from all corners of the multimedia universe? We don’t pretend to be fortune tellers who have tomorrow’s results today. So you won’t ever see any mentions of “lead-pipe, stone-cold locks” or “biggest bet of my life.” And we certainly will never advise you to wager anything more than what you’d drop on a family dinner at Chili’s.

We’re just having a little fun here, and hope you do, too. Which is to say: Don’t beat us over the head when we have a rough day. Because we will. And probably more often than not!

NHL Total: New Jersey Devils Vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

The bet: Devils-Blue Jackets Over 6.5
The odds: -124
Where to bet: FanDuel Sportsbook
From: Matt Perrault via The Bostonian Vs. The Book Podcast

Paying -124 on an NHL Over is a bit of a hefty price (and, OK, maybe even a bit of a square play). However, Matt Perrault — host of The Bostonian vs. The Book podcast — isn’t undeterred.

“I think this is a 5-3 game,” Perrault said. “Who wins? I’m not really sure, but I think we see goals, goals, goals between these two teams.”

Dave Sharapan — “The Book” side of The Bostonian vs. The Book — agreed with his cohost.

“I’ll bet it — there’s not much of a thought,” Sharapan said. “This is just the way [the Devils] play. Also, Columbus is one of the worst teams in hockey; they give up goals.”

Isn’t that the truth? Columbus has gone Over the total more than any other team in the NHL this season. New Jersey, meanwhile, ranks fifth in that respect.

Perrault locked in the Devils-Blue Jackets Over 6.5 last night at -125. You can actually get marginally better odds (-124) on this Tuesday best bets selection at FanDuel Sportsbook this afternoon.

Perrault listed two other bets he likes during today’s Bostonian vs. The Book podcast, including one NBA favorite and one college basketball underdog. You can listen to the replay on Youtube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.

NBA Prop: Washington Wizards PF Kyle Kuzma

The bet: Over 35.5 points/rebounds/assists (vs. Detroit)
The odds: -120
Where to bet: DraftKings Sportsbook or Underdog Fantasy
From: Matt LaMarca via NBA Props Tuesday

Kuzma still doesn’t get much love in the player prop market despite some gaudy numbers of late. He’s taken over as the Wizards’ top offensive option following the injury to Bradley Beal and the trade of Spencer Dinwiddie. Keep in mind that recently acquired Kristaps Porzingis is out with an injury as well.

In seven games without Beal and Dinwiddie this season, Kuzma has increased his usage rate by +4.9%, his assist rate by +8.2%, and his rebound rate by +1.3%. Overall, he’s averaged 22.0 points, 9.7 boards, and 5.3 assists per 36 minutes in those contests.

With that in mind, it’s not surprising that Kuzma has been smashing this points/rebounds/assists prop number of late. He’s racked up at least 47 in three of his past four games; the lone exception was a blowout victory during which he played just 30.3 minutes.

Expect Kuzma to keep the good times rolling vs. the Pistons, who rank just 25th in defensive efficiency and dead last in rebound rate this season.

LaMarca has four other NBA props to consider on Thursday, including two involving Stephen Curry and Reggie Jackson.

NHL Prop: Calgary Flames C Blake Coleman

Blake Coleman #20 of the Calgary Flames awaits a pass against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Scotiabank Saddledome on February 15, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The bet: Over 2.5 shots on goal (at Minnesota)
The odds: -115
Where to bet: DraftKings Sportsbook
From: Jason Scavone via NHL Props Tuesday

The Flames’ offense is clicking more than an all-Adam Sandler video store (timely!), and Coleman has been right there in the middle of it. Yeah, he’s only eclipsed Tuesday’s shot prop number in half of his 50 games this season, but look at the results over the past two weeks: The center/winger has registered three shots or more in five of his last seven games.

On Saturday in the opener of a home-and-home against Minnesota, Calgary peppered Wild netminder Kappo Kahkonen with 35 shots, and Coleman tied for the team lead with four.

Do the Flames have more prolific shooters? Sure. Will the books charge you for wagering on those shooters? Turns out they emphatically will. At -115, there’s a lot more value on Coleman than laying -160 with Matthew Tkachuk or -180 with Johnny Gaudreau (the only two Calgary players with more shots than Coleman).

Go ahead and grab this NHL prop at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Scavone has four other NHL props to consider for tonight’s slate, including a Devils-Jackets first-goal prop.

NBA Prop: Detroit Pistons SF Saddiq Bey

The bet: Over 2.5 Assists (at Washington)
The odds: -120
Where to bet: Caesars Sportsbook
From: BetPrep Prop of the Day via BetPrep.com

The streak has ended! The sharps at BetPrep nailed three props in a row until Karl-Anthony Towns failed to go Over 21.5 points last night. Bummer! They’ll look to build a new streak while taking Saddiq Bey Over 2.5 assists tonight.

Here’s what the folks at BetPrep like about this pick:

  • Bey has recorded three or more assists in 11 of his last 13 games
  • He’s exceeded 2.5 assists in each of his last five road contests
  • He’s topped this assist number in seven of his last eight against an opponent with a losing record

Checking recent form, Bey has crossed the 2.5 assist threshold in four of his last five games. One of those contests (Feb. 14) came against the same Wizards team he’ll see tonight. His assist total in the previous meeting: 5. It’s conceivable that Bey approaches that number — and comfortably crosses the 2.5 mark — in the dimes department this evening.

The best price to grab this Tuesday best bets selection is at Caesars Sportsbook, which currently has Bey’s Over 2.5 assists prop at -120.
