Steelers-Lions Preview and Predictions (12/21)
This Steelers vs Lions matchup checks every box for a high-variance, high-ceiling offensive game-script. There are plenty of mouthwatering spots to try and attack.
- Books have Detroit laying around a touchdown at home with a total in the low 50s, signaling real respect for this Lions offense.
- Detroit is hanging top-tier scoring numbers (over 30 points per game) and ranks near the top of the league in red-zone TD rate, while the Steelers’ defense could yield much more time in the pocket without T.J. Watt
Detroit’s defense is the wild card. The front has had strong stretches this season and can be disruptive, but the back end has been vulnerable, especially against elite receivers and accurate quarterbacks.
Losing safety Kerby Joseph to injured reserve coming into this week only magnifies those issues. Joseph had been a ball-hawking presence in the middle of the field, and his absence opens up windows for Rodgers to attack intermediate and deep between the numbers.
When all is said and done, the most likely story looks like Detroit’s offense sustaining drives and cashing in red-zone trips, while Pittsburgh answers in spurts behind Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf—but not often enough.

NFL Expert Picks: Steelers vs Lions Best Player Prop Bets
This could be the most exciting game of Week 16 from a points-scoring perspective. Check out some Steelers vs Lions props on Underdog:
PICK: Amon-Ra St. Brown> 85.5 Receiving Yards
The Steelers are giving up the 7th-highest catchable target rate and 10th-highest catch rate in the NFL, according to Fantasy Points. When the going gets tough in Detroit, Jared Goff always turns to ARSB. He should do it again in a great matchup and massive game total.
PICK: Jameson Williams > 69.5 Receiving Yards
Yes, I think you can play both of these guys. Williams has been incredible since Dan Campbell has taken over play-calling duties. His target rate rivals St. Brown’s (especially with Sam LaPorta out), and there’s a world where both of these guys go over these lines– and I think it’s reasonable.
Love running a pick’em slip back with Metcalf on it too, with the Steelers in catch-up mode.
Good luck!
