UAB vs. Miami Ohio Predictions

There’s a reason UAB is favored by double-digits. The Blazers have RB DeWayne McBride, who is the leading rusher in the country with 1,713 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. He’ll face a Miami Ohio run defense that ranks middle of the pack while allowing 4.1 yards per carry (58th) and 144.5 rushing yards per game (51st).

However, Miami got torched on the ground against Ball State RB Carson Steele, who ranks sixth in the country for rushing yards. Steele went for 180 yards on 26 carries with two long touchdown runs. You better believe McBride will be able to take advantage in similar fashion.

It’s hard to believe that Miami Ohio will be able to score enough points to keep pace with McBride and the Blazers. The RedHawks rank 114th in scoring offense (19.3 ppg), 121st in third-down conversions, and 119th in total yards. For those reasons, we’ll take UAB to win the game and cover the spread.
